I'm going out tonight to a restaurant with a friend I haven't seen in a while, this is actually the first time I'm going out with friends since the 1st lockdown back in March. When I see her, I don't know if I should hug? Don't want it to be awkward. What do you guys do with your friends with the Covid situation?

@NameChange84 your views sound rather extreme.

@shinynewapple2020 I'm actually in Tier 2, London.

Yes, we never stopped hugging. Family too.

Hugosmugo · 01/11/2020 22:18

I can't believe people are apologising on here for hugging friends who have lost relatives throughout all of this.
There are some extreme views on here.
I'm sorry to say that we are so far in to this now and other things are happening in the world besides covid that mean people need a little hug. I can't believe the way people have become :(
And I say this as someone who has plenty of NHS staff in my family and friends who have similar views.

Of course you don’t hug.

I’ve had no meaningful human contact since March. I’m dying to hug a friend, or my mum. But nope. It’s to protect them.

TakeMe2Insanity · 01/11/2020 22:20

I haven’t hugged anyone apart from the family I live with one exception a friend who had a very late miscarriage.

Newmumatlast · 01/11/2020 22:21

Not even hugging my parents or siblings or nieces and nephews.

Gillian1980 · 01/11/2020 22:21

Nope 😔 and usually I do.

Only people I’ve hugged since March are: DH, DC x 2, DF (in our bubble) & MIL (not in bubble, so broke the rules for her).

Ive had 1 hug since March.. Mother died Feb, then lockdown, back to work then collegue died in September, I had mini meltdown, crying at work! Friend came over and just hugged the life out of me. Didn't say anything, just gave me the sweetest, most sincere hug I've ever had.
