To buy DPs shoes...

A ridiculous one... but here we go. DP loves golf. I don't mind, he gets out of the house and out of my hair, and it makes him happy. For the past year he has been wearing his golf shoes as trainers. They are vile. I have been nagging him to buy some trainers. He seems to have enough money to buy new golf gear, but not enough to buy everyday clothes. AIBU to spend my own money to get him trainers so that I'm not so embarrassed to be seen with him? Or should he cough up himself? (3rd option I put up with his hideous footwear)

4th option you refuse to be seen with him.

JaniceEvans · 31/10/2020 21:27

@katy1213Grin somehow didn't think of that!

Do you mean they’re vile because they stink?

JaniceEvans · 31/10/2020 21:34

@switswooo no they just look ugly.

He doesn’t wear any other shoes??

Newfornow · 31/10/2020 21:56

If a man posted this can you imagine the responses?
Shall I replace my wife’s shoes because I don’t like them?

LuckyAmy1986 · 31/10/2020 22:00

Yes you should buy them! (Presuming he would be happy to wear them) It’s you that has the issue with the ones he wears, not him, so I can see why he wouldn’t want to shell out for new ones.

VladmirsPoutine · 31/10/2020 22:04

Have you told him all of this? If it's driving you to the point of not wanting to be seen out with him then?? Or are you being facetious and I've totally missed the light-hearted nature of it?

copperoliver · 31/10/2020 22:25

Buy him some everyday stuff for Christmas x

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 31/10/2020 22:36

I thought I should share the ad that came up with this post...
Does he wear trainers, when he has some?
Or boots?
Smart shoes?
Nothing wrong with buying him a gift of new shoes. He can choose to wear them. Or not

Thanks all, it sounds like it's my issue rather than his then! I guess I don't need to be seen out with him now that it's lockdown again and I will buy him some new shoes for Christmas.
