When DH makes me boiled eggs and soldiers in my favourite egg cup.
When my super cool and very glamourous little sisters tells anyone who will listen how fiercely I protect her and make her feel safe.
When my cat rolls over in a sunbeam to warm his belly and makes a sound like a creaky floorboard.
When my DS (aged 6) asks after others and takes a genuine interest in their welfare.
When I am having disturbed sleep and my very unnaffectionate DH reaches out sleepily and puts his hand on my lower back and makes little reassuring hush noises until I am settled.
Or when he can tell I am coming down with a bug because apparently I make whimpering noises (I know, how irritating - I would tell me to piss off) when I am asleep, so always appears with a drink, toast and paracetamol in the morning.
When my friends genuinely belly laugh when we are together, and relax after they have had hard time.
When my step mum looks after my DS at the beach, she has a magic way of getting rid of all the sand off him, and he always sits between her legs after swimming in the sea, wrapped in a towel whilst she gives him sandwiches and crisps and makes sure he stays hydrated. They just sit really relaxed and stare at the sea, eating and happy.
I have lots of things that make me smile and I feel really lucky after writing all that down.
