There is much doom and gloom at present so would love to hear of little things that make you happy.
Mine are when I do the laundry and all socks pair up with no lost ones.

Also when I stroke my sleeping dog and he groans in a contented way.
The gentle pop of a cork when opening a new bottle of wine and the glugging noise as you fill a glass.

A vase of fresh flowers. Lovely.

Bluewavescrashing · 31/10/2020 20:42

Pancakes on a Sunday morning.

theruffles · 31/10/2020 20:43

Washing on the line on a sunny day and the way it smells when it's dry.
Something nice to look forward to for lunch.
A cosy, warm bed on a cold night.
The smell in the air when it's Bonfire Night or when someone has lit a coal fire.
The squish of good wool (I like knitting)
Hugs from my 2 year old.
Late evening sunlight coming through the windows in the summer.
Fresh spring days when the sun is shining and it's starting to feel less chilly.
When DH remembers to pick up milk and saves me a trip.

Pimmsypimms · 31/10/2020 20:44

When my ds7 has a proper belly laugh, best sound ever 😍

Brigante9 · 31/10/2020 20:45

The horse shouting for me when I arrive, he knows the sound of my engine. Then when he has everything he needs, he sometimes kicks his door just because he wants a cuddle and lays his massive head on my shoulder.

The dog crawling into my lap for cuddles.

Very hot baths.

The part of the evening when we’ve eaten dinner and there are spare hours to slouch/have a nap.

millymoo1202 · 31/10/2020 20:51

Great thread, listening to my almost 20 year old and 15 year old laughing at daft things, the dog stretching and rolling around on carpet and definitely just standing at kitchen window watching the birds!

Loveatortie · 31/10/2020 20:56

Loads off things my dc ringing me for a chat (haven't seen them since beginning of September Sad, definitely that first glug from a wine bottle pour, the clinck of ice in a g&t. Hearing my dh come home from a 12 hour shift, dcat purring on my pillow in the morning. The birds chirruping, the sound of my familes voices when we talk on the phone. This year has really made me appreciate the simple things in life.

Lndnmummy · 31/10/2020 20:58

My 2 year old saying “I love you mummy” 100 times a day. Randomly finding my 8 year olds gratitude journal. Had no idea he had one. Each day he has written 3 things that make him happy. Every single day it says Mum at the top. Waking up 30min before everyone else and having a coffee on my own in the kitchen. It’s pure bliss.

Onxob · 31/10/2020 20:58

Also the meow my cat gives every morning when we get up. It’s a single meow, really loud and vocal - it sounds like she is saying hello. It never fails to make me smile. She doesn’t do it at any other time.

I'm not even a cat person but this made me smile Smile

My two year old is divine. When I go into her in the morning she greets me with a huge grin with her adorable, crazy bed hair standing on end. She stands there waiting for me to get her while clutching her collection: one or two dummies, her blanky and teddy - all under her arm ready to rock and it makes me smile every day.

Notonthestairs · 31/10/2020 21:04

My puppy's tail going in circles when I wake her up. I'm a grumpy arse in the morning but her joy in just seeing me makes me smile.

And watching her become annoyed with the pigeons for not clearing off when she's barked at them. She turns and looks at me as if to say "why aren't they listening?"

Iamnotminterested · 31/10/2020 21:05

My coffee machine.

A freshly-made bed.

Mainly though, thinking of my DDs saying bizarre things and laughing at each other makes me smile the most.

nearlynermal · 31/10/2020 21:06

My little young cat has started this thing: he'll stand on the landing with his head poking through the bannisters. Then, when I start going downstairs and come level with him he sticks his front paws out and climbs onto my shoulder, purring like mad until I lift him into a hug. Neither of us ever gets tired of it.

looselegs · 31/10/2020 21:06

Starting a new book
Buying new make up- doesn't happen very often!
A hug from my son who moved out 3 months ago.
Laughing hysterically over something stupid with my 17 year old daughter. She struggles with her mental health a bit, and it's so good to hear that laugh!

LoveFall · 31/10/2020 21:06

Another. My dog's enthusiastic greeting. Watching him being really silly trying to bury his chew stick in a towel on the floor, wagging his tail the whole time.

Dontbeme · 31/10/2020 21:07

Winter walks, especially when it's cold enough for hat and scarf.
Seeing dogs on walks with their humans.
A hot cup of tea in the garden on a cold morning before anyone else is awake.
Reading a book in bed on a rainy night, tucked up safe and warm.
Birds on the feeder in the summer with their young.
The first seaside trip of the summer, and the first ice-cream too.

Thank you for this lovely thread.

Fastforwardtospring · 31/10/2020 21:09

Birds feeding & having a good wash in the bird bath.
DDog leaning into me to have her tummy tickled.

DC getting on with one another.

Lollypoppyflop · 31/10/2020 21:12

Waking with no room to get comfy because my big girl takes up a lot of space. Walking alongside the water watching the rain drops splash and the trees droop overhead. My heart bounces watching my dog enjoy her energy and catching the ball in her mouth. Knowing my son is near and feeling the swell of love he deserves. Feeling truly blessed.

incinemasnow · 31/10/2020 21:15

My cars heated seat.

The cat jumping onto the bed in the morning
Having a nap on the sofa on a miserable Sunday afternoon

OohKittens · 31/10/2020 21:18

Fluffy socks
Scented candle
My Norwegian forest cat when he chirps at me

LadyPenelope68 · 31/10/2020 21:20

Getting into bed when there are clean sheets that have been dried on the line.
The satisfying “pop” when you open a new bag of coffee beans and the smell that comes with it.

CurlsandCurves · 31/10/2020 21:25

Saturday evenings.

When the house is clean, everything is done. Everyone in the house has finished work, football, etc. We are all happy and relaxed, eating a meal together. Then sometimes we sit together to watch something on tv, other times we scatter to different parts of the house to do whatever we like.

Love it when everyone is home and safe.

ladybee28 · 31/10/2020 21:28

I have hard stone tile floors.

That means that when DDog farts while sitting down, it makes a sound against the stone like a cheerful little cartoon trombone.

Meanwhile, his face is totally deadpan.

Never fails to send me into peals of laughter, no matter how bad the day.

Sweetchillijam · 31/10/2020 21:44

Walking on the Autumn leaves, seeing all the various colours and watching them fall🍁

My dog coming to greet me.

Seeing my dog running extremely fast on a walk.

Seeing the sunshine.

Getting my washing dry on the line outside.

Making a meal or baking something that turns out well.

Getting to the bottom of the laundry basket.

Emptying the water out of my Samsung bubble tumbler. Very sad but satisfying.

People saying nice things about my children.

Seeing people smiling or looking happy.

Seeing fresh snow and walking in it.

Listening to the rain while tucked up warm in bed.

Seeing the christmas tree decorated and lit up.

Getting into a clean bed.

Seeing and having a laugh and putting the world to rights with a good friend.

Saracen · 01/11/2020 02:12

Earnest busy toddlers who are on a mission.

Smily babies who laugh when you make a silly face at them.

Primary colours, especially red. A red red rose, or a shiny waxed bright red car which practically blinds you.

People singing quietly to themselves in public because it makes them happy and they don't care whether anyone thinks they are silly.

Elderly people with amazing stories to tell.

blubberball · 01/11/2020 02:48
