The Great Reset

I am ashamed to say, but I enjoy reading the Daily Mail commentary and getting myself a little depressed (rarely read the articles; it’s straight to comments). I find the comments voted the ‘best’ often ignorant, uneducated and foolish but I just can’t help looking!

Anyway, I have noticed the comments for weeks now have been mentioning The Great Reset on any Covid-19 articles that the DM runs. They mention The World Economic Forum a lot and it has just got me curious. Does anyone here believe in this stuff or is it something that seems to be a sticking point for Mail readers?

I get the basic jest of what it’s about but I never hear anyone in real life or other forums really mention this Great Reset stuff.

I guess I am asking, does anyone else believe in this Great Reset idea especially in regards to Covid-19? And if you do believe in it, why?

I suppose the voting can be a ‘yes’ if you believe in it, and a ‘no’ if you do not.

The wef stuff is real. But not some sinister plan. They are encouraging the world to take this opportunity to become better. To make the world better to live. For everyone.

"Author's note: Some people have read this blog as my utopia or dream of the future. It is not. It is a scenario showing where we could be heading - for better and for worse. I wrote this piece to start a discussion about some of the pros and cons of the current technological development. When we are dealing with the future, it is not enough to work with reports. We should start discussions in many new ways. This is the intention with this piece."

^ this

The bit with the free transport and owning nothing and not having privacy is quite literally a piece of fiction intended to get people to think critically about both the good and bad rather than blindly accepting.

The actual plans are not the same thing.

TheSeedsOfADream · 31/10/2020 23:36

As pp has said, the concept exists, the theoretical idea that if the original ideas were enacted, things would be nice etc.
But, probably because it's been given a wanky woo-y name, the tinfoilers have sucked it up and turned it into Gaia eating her children to make us pay for what we've done while God Bill Gates changes the batteries in the pigeons.

catspyjamas123 · 31/10/2020 23:37

It doesn’t sound a very Covid-secure future - no personal space to self-isolate in and all that unhygienic shared equipment. Humans have a fundamental need for a space of their own.

Dixiee · 31/10/2020 23:39

I read the comment sections too op @EddyF and it's a bit like a broken clocking showing the right time twice a day. I research it after reading them and tbh, it sounds very reasonable to me. I'm no conspiracy theorist but some of the stuff I've researched does indicate to a great reset.

Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 23:48

@Dixiee So the great reset is true but what are their plans etc, do we have a say in this

Quaagars · 31/10/2020 23:53

@Brighterthansunflowers

I voted YABU because you are being unreasonable for spreading uninformed shit courtesy of the daily mail comments section!
Same
TheLastStarfighter · 31/10/2020 23:54

@Noimusntforget everyone has a say in them. WEF are just a group trying to influence work leaders. They are an NGO. They are not in charge - they just come up with the ideas.

Also - although I jumped to to correct a couple of things, I am not defending them. I think WEF are a bit crap. The epitome of rich white men trying to be saviours of humanity when they caused most of the problems. They are definitely part of the problem (but not in the same was as daily mail comments would have people believe).

Noimusntforget · 01/11/2020 00:13

So the suspicions about it all (the great reset) have become muddled, just interesting as there are many (seem to be legitimate) articles about it, that don’t talk in a positive way. The thought of change is scary, some of them say we won’t have our own homes, will have a universal wage etc..sounds ludicrous, but then the plans set out/proposed by them, follow these lines but it isn’t said in such an obvious way as this, but it’s pretty much outlining a lot of it. For example, changing careers, working from home, shopping only online etc..I don’t want all these things, do others?

Doingtheboxerbeat · 01/11/2020 00:59

All I can think about is the Pixies "Where is my mind?" So I might listen to that now.

Noimusntforget · 01/11/2020 08:27

@Doingtheboxerbeat You mean you wonder where people’s minds are questioning this? Or your own mind at the moment 🙈

Sorry I messed up the link

Wheresmymind · 01/11/2020 12:56

@MrsGradyOldLady Do you have the link please?

TheHighestSardine · 01/11/2020 13:13

@TheLastStarfighter

The thing is, the WEF “great reset” is about
  • creating a fairer more equitable word economy
  • taxing the rich more
  • stopping fossil fuel subsidies
  • building green infrastructure
  • working towards equality and equity
  • using science to do good

The Daily Mail comments section

  • the fascists are going to inject us with nanotechnology to control our brains
Yes, exactly.

The only conspiracy bit is that the loonies who are discrediting the whole "let's fix the broken economic model that relies on infinite consumption" are very likely to be dedicated misinformation bots owned by the rich who can't face change because they're too invested in the status quo, and the Russians/NK/whoever who are succesfully destabilising the US and here.

And yeah, ten years ago I'd have raise quite the eyebrow at that as nonsense conspiracy, but these days depressingly we know it's true. Ain't the modern world great?

Wheresmymind · 01/11/2020 20:06

I saw it written about a universal wage and camps to live in? Is this all bull then?

TheHighestSardine · 02/11/2020 15:25

That is, yeah.
