The Great Reset

EddyF · 31/10/2020 13:15

I am ashamed to say, but I enjoy reading the Daily Mail commentary and getting myself a little depressed (rarely read the articles; it’s straight to comments). I find the comments voted the ‘best’ often ignorant, uneducated and foolish but I just can’t help looking!

Anyway, I have noticed the comments for weeks now have been mentioning The Great Reset on any Covid-19 articles that the DM runs. They mention The World Economic Forum a lot and it has just got me curious. Does anyone here believe in this stuff or is it something that seems to be a sticking point for Mail readers?

I get the basic jest of what it’s about but I never hear anyone in real life or other forums really mention this Great Reset stuff.

I guess I am asking, does anyone else believe in this Great Reset idea especially in regards to Covid-19? And if you do believe in it, why?

I suppose the voting can be a ‘yes’ if you believe in it, and a ‘no’ if you do not.

That Catholic cardinal’s letter is properly bonkers. It was an entertaining read, if only to see what’s out there, but worrying for the people who will be swayed by it.

CoRhona · 31/10/2020 22:56

YABU for reading that trash.

Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 22:57

@boatyardblues But why is he saying all that and many others too? What’s the point

HangingOverTheEdge · 31/10/2020 23:09

No idea what the great reset is, but surely after covid every country will be in debt by many, many times more then it will ever be able to re-pay and there will be an international accord to "start again". After all, if every country is borrowing to get through the current crisis it will be like the Dad's Army episode where ten(?) pounds is passed around the table to settle the debt owed by the passer to person next to him until it ends back where it started and everyone is happy.

Funkypolar · 31/10/2020 23:13

The Great Reset is real, not sure exactly how they plan to enact it.

catspyjamas123 · 31/10/2020 23:19

Aren’t most of the comments on Mail Online from Russian bots? Some countries have a vested interest in spreading fake news.

WorksTheDinerAllDay · 31/10/2020 23:21

Never heard of the conspiracy, but I read the WEF link a PP posted and it all seems like sensible stuff? Wealth distribution and greener living?

PersonaNonGarter · 31/10/2020 23:22

It is a load of bollocks, sent to mess with the heads of people looking for something to put their faith in.

Lots of the people attracted to this stuff are very stressed or anxious about stuff in their own lives. It isn’t a coincidence.

Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 23:23

But then what are all the articles (seen above) regarding the year 2030 and all of us not owning anything etc? This seems like a frightening future, why are they setting that out in the plans 🤷🏻‍♀️

CrotchBurn · 31/10/2020 23:23

I dont understand. What's happening?

TheLastStarfighter · 31/10/2020 23:24

The thing is, the WEF “great reset” is about

  • creating a fairer more equitable word economy
  • taxing the rich more
  • stopping fossil fuel subsidies
  • building green infrastructure
  • working towards equality and equity
  • using science to do good

The Daily Mail comments section

  • the fascists are going to inject us with nanotechnology to control our brains
Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 23:24

I mean, this is what they’re actually saying, that’s not conspiracy stuff. Why are they stating the plans in that way?

Funkypolar · 31/10/2020 23:25

www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/11/shopping-i-can-t-really-remember-what-that-is/

Once in awhile I get annoyed about the fact that I have no real privacy. No where I can go and not be registered. I know that, somewhere, everything I do, think and dream of is recorded. I just hope that nobody will use it against me.

All in all, it is a good life. Much better than the path we were on, where it became so clear that we could not continue with the same model of growth. We had all these terrible things happening: lifestyle diseases, climate change, the refugee crisis, environmental degradation, completely congested cities, water pollution, air pollution, social unrest and unemployment. We lost way too many people before we realised that we could do things differently.

chickenyhead · 31/10/2020 23:26

I physically cannot read this shit.

I have such a deep visceral response to this BS that it is impossible.

Take up cross stitch or something useful.

LaurieFairyCake · 31/10/2020 23:26

It's just a conspiracy theory written by nut jobs Confused

It is NOT a thing

I do recommend that people don't read mad conspiracy theory even for entertainment as then you keep being offered more videos like them - so you end up reading solely stuff that confirms thaf theory

You basically end up thinking there's something in it Hmm

So don't start

Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 23:26

This 👆wtf is that all about?

Funkypolar · 31/10/2020 23:27

From 2030, sales of new hybrid, petrol and diesel cars will also be banned in the U.K.

Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 23:28

But that above, is written by them, no? Or am I missing something? That’s their plan. Can someone explain please. Random people posting conspiracy crap on YouTube etc is one thing, but this is their website talking about their plans 🤷🏻‍♀️

RichardMarxisinnocent · 31/10/2020 23:29

@Noimusntforget

But then what are all the articles (seen above) regarding the year 2030 and all of us not owning anything etc? This seems like a frightening future, why are they setting that out in the plans 🤷🏻‍♀️
Did you read the part at the bottom of the article about 2030? It isn't a plan, it's an article written to prompt discussion:

"Author's note: Some people have read this blog as my utopia or dream of the future. It is not. It is a scenario showing where we could be heading - for better and for worse. I wrote this piece to start a discussion about some of the pros and cons of the current technological development. When we are dealing with the future, it is not enough to work with reports. We should start discussions in many new ways. This is the intention with this piece."

halloween88 · 31/10/2020 23:30

It's been jumped on by conspiracy theorists, the WEF Reset thing has been adopted by the nutters.
The actual rationale behind it is very good.

Mimishimi · 31/10/2020 23:30

The Great Reset with 60 million dead and the fascist eugenecists richer than ever. Just great. Wonder when they will start the roundups. Bastards.

Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 23:30

@Funkypolar The car part sounds positive? and pretty normal and understandable. The owning nothing etc is strange. You can see why people’s minds are working overtime when this is being said by them and this Covid stuff is basically following the same trail...or am I losing it 🙈

Funkypolar · 31/10/2020 23:31

But the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset is a real initiative.

Oswin · 31/10/2020 23:31

That article about 2030 isn't a plan. It even has a note at the end saying it's to start a conversation about where we could end up.

Noimusntforget · 31/10/2020 23:33

@RichardMarxisinnocent Yes, but there are numerous articles and plans by them that keep cropping up, all following the same spiel
