Completion delayed??

Posting here for traffic. We are moving and exchanged contracts 2 weeks ago with the completion date set for next Friday (6th). This announcement about another possible national lockdown is causing more stress! We have to move on the 6th as our buyer has a tenant who has signed a contract to move in and, to be honest, living amongst a pile of boxes with an 18 month old with no garden is going to be hell should another lockdown happen. Our seller is moving to another county and I've asked the estate agent to ask her to look into other options should her removal company back out. AIBU to stress the completion may be delayed? I have no idea what to do if they ask to delay it other than say 'no'. What happens then?

If you’ve all exchanged, unless you had a covid clause in your contract I’d imagine completion would go ahead as agreed and anyone that didn’t complete on the agreed date would be in breach of contract.

We’re due to complete on the sale of our house on the 13th and aren’t anticipating any delays, aside from potentially not being able to exchange on the new house as planned but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I completed a sale in full lockdown. You’ve exchanged which I’m sure last time meant you were fine to complete as planned.

Exchange is literally just a phone call isn't it?

I can't see why that would stall.

You've certainly settled my nerves a bit so thank you! This is obviously the first time we've ever moved in a potential lockdown so just had no idea what to do. I don't think we have a covid19 clause in the contract so fingers crossed. I am so thankful we've exchanged already. Can 2020 just be over already?!

I feel you. It’s our first time selling a house and it’s been beyond stressful, especially given our buyers wouldn’t wait for us to link the sale Sad fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you 🤞🏻
