We’re due to move house in a couple of weeks, movers are all booked and I’m due to transfer the money today. Now we face this national lockdown. What am I supposed to do? Should we assume it’s going ahead? Anyone have any idea if house moving will be allowed in a national lockdown?

I know it’s first world problems... but feeling very stressed..

We are currently in tier 2 not tier 3 but national lockdown will maybe follow tier 3 rules?

We are selling a house in probate, buyers paid deposit yesterday and we are hoping contracts will be exchanged this week with a moving date the same day. We are staying hopeful, but who knows. We are ready, our solicitor and the buyers are ready, it’s their solicitor who is rubbish.

I was scheduled to move first week of the first lockdown back in March. So I had exchanged and was 2 days away from completing when lockdown was announced.
It was the removal company cancelling on me that stopped it. We were still allowed to move and I was encouraged to get a van and do it myself, but I'm a single mum to a toddler so that wasn't happening. Luckily I was part exchanging with a builder into a new build so they sorted out the chain for me. Ended up staying in my old house until the end of June when removal companies were able to work again
