To think all those people calling the Welsh first minister a dictator can go eat their words...

National lockdown looming next week:
www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/30/save-christmas-with-covid-lockdown-in-england-experts-say

There have been several threads on here calling Mark Drakeford a dictator, slagging off the welsh firebreak lockdown, commenting on the rules in wales.

Not looking quite so stupid now is he?

Aibu to think that the tories who criticised him can go eat their words? Boris has been missing in action again during the worst crisis in living memory, test and trace has failed etc

And to people that state nothing anti welsh about it... have you seen that tories are claiming they might have to follow france with a national lockdown, totally ignoring the fact the wales has been in a lockdown for a week. God forbid they admit to doing the same as the welsh..... that’s because they are following France. France has gone into lockdown for a month just as it is reported (bearing in mind it’s not actually been announced yet).

Wales have gone into lockdown for two weeks it’s a gesture only, and at the point we go into lockdown Wales will be coming out and free to spread the virus amongst themselves. Unless they extend their lockdown into December, or perhaps given their figures will be right up by Christmas they should lock down over Christmas again and criticise England for not doing so.

This with bells on. BoJo is always too late with any actions he takes.

Wales didn't make masks compulsory in shops until September 14th. Long after England and Scotland.

I can't stand any of the leaders btw.
@Igotthemheavyboobs common misconception but baby clothes actually were always deemed essential. The govt have a handy document that explains it all.
Well they were added to the list 3 days ago.

Wales doesnt want independence on the whole tbh. But you keep believing that. And keep going on about welsh people being lazy etc I'm sure it makes you feel morally superior. Instead of dressing it up as you hate the economics of it just be honest and say how much you hate the Welsh.

MushMonster · 31/10/2020 10:27

Yes, that exactly. They must start listening to each other OP, and working together. The blame seems to be on Boris court at the moment.
We all have to work together, and accept criticism. All this would be easier to understand and follow if the rules were agreed by them all together.
Devolved systems work very well. They have been working in most of the world for hundreds of years. The sub- parlaments have closer knowleage of their area and can feed that to the central goverment. And the presence of a central goverments gives the so important feeling of union, togetherness, teamwork. Sure Boris can give it a go, when he gets back wherrver he is.

@FartingInTheFence you sound lovely. I think you’d be happier in your little England without any of us Celtic nations or the EU anyway so why not just let us get on with it. The fact that you are quoting spectator articles says everything we need to know about you thanks

Elphame · 31/10/2020 10:32

No has acted like a dictator.

Do you expect Boris to say you can’t buy a tin opener?

AllPlayedOut · 31/10/2020 10:32

What a vile and incredibly stupid attitude, FartingInTheFence. I think all of those fumes you're producing have gone to your head.

Ignoringequally · 31/10/2020 10:33

Oh hi Mrs Drakeford Grin

BritWifeinUSA · 31/10/2020 10:34

Just because BoJo is now apparently considering a shutdown as well, doesn’t mean that the welsh minister was right. It is possible that they are both wrong. There is evidence that points towards shutdowns not being that effective anyway.

As usual! These conversations seem to translate in Welsh against English each time!
You are all part of the same country. If you go down, you go together!
But yeah, keep arguing instead of demanding joint actions from the goverments of UK

Ginnymweasley · 31/10/2020 10:37

Your a delight aren't you. I'm english but I'm going now to make some halloween decorations with my horrible welsh parasitic children. Hwyl fawr!

DdraigGoch · 31/10/2020 10:42

@Allthestarsarecloser

What I am saying is that there have been several posts on here criticising MD plus a whole heap of shit in the media about it - more than I have ever seen actually - but yet the WG were right in their actions all along.
Just which part of "you aren't allowed to buy non-essential items in an otherwise essential shop but we're going to dither about releasing a list of the items that shops will be fined for selling so they'll feel forced to take an over-zealous approach" was reasonable?
TheDowagerDuchessofMwwwahaha · 31/10/2020 13:14

Personally I’m 100% more able to cope with a lockdown now that we’ve been able to do a few things in half term (even being their 2 where I am), so grateful England didn’t lockdown before. But that’s just for me.

No idea about Mark Drakeford and whether he was right. Time will tell I guess.

superstripeysocks · 31/10/2020 15:08

What a weirdly stressful and aggressive thread

About the non-essential item in supermarkets issue.

NOT about the lockdown per se.

Sigh.

And no they weren't right all along. If you are in a supermarket it makes zero difference to the transmission of the virus, whether you pick up a pair of socks or a pint of milk or both.

susandelgado · 31/10/2020 18:11

I've thought he was right all along.
