Halloween challenge!

Who has the spookiest, scariest real life story?? Mine are all pretty tame!

My spookiest experience was as a teen - playing at my friends nans house only me, friend and nan in the house. It was 4 storeys, cellar, ground floor, first floor bedrooms and then an attic bedroom we would play in that had a sliding door.

Friends nan was in the cellar, we were in the attic. All of a sudden we could hear rustling and then the sliding door flung open with so much force!! We both screamed and barrelled down the stairs! I never went back!

Who's next??

There have been about a million threads full of "spooky" stories. Perhaps try one of those?

Oh dont be grumpy @Lockheart there might be some new ones out there!

I think I've already read all the existing ones 😂

Somebody whispered in my ear and stroked my arm, then turned on the bedside lamps.

There was only me and 3yo ds in the house. Old French house in the foot of the Pyrenees.

I said "bonjour Madame" and it stopped. Didn't feel freaked out, it was the previous owner of the house. I just smiled and went to sleep.

Felt much more spooked out in the morning Grin

Not my story but my mums.

When she was a child she lived in a haunted house. No one would believe her thought when she said it was haunted. The ghost lived behind my grandparents bedroom door.

( my Nan told me later that she used to be petrified when checking behind the door when she was showing my mum there was no ghost there. She didn’t let my mum know how scared she was at the time)

Anyway my mum would never go back to the house alone after school so she would go to a shop where a relative work and wait until relative had finished her shift. The relative would then walk her home. My uncle had no problem going home alone.

One day when my mum and relative ( sorry I can’t remember who they were) got home they heard banging coming from the cupboard under the stairs. The lock to the cupboard was on the outside of the door and it was locked over. When the open the door they found my uncle in there. He said that when he was looking in the cupboard some one had pushed him in and locked the door.

The incident that triggered them moving to a new house happened to my grandad. One night my grandad couldn’t sleep so he went downstairs to the kitchen to have a cup of tea and read his book for a while. He was sat at the kitchen table with his back to the door and the door closed.

He heard the door open then felt someone come in and put a hand on his shoulder Thinking it was my Nan coming to see what he was doing he said “ I’ll be there in a minute ( my nans name)” but when he turned around there was no one there.

I grew up in a little village.
There was two routes to get home.
One was the main road (which we always walked)
The second route took you along overgrown hedges and three very old cottages.
One day myself and my cousin dared each other to go the second route.
My cousin was eight and I was nine.
It was gone 4.30 as we had just finished our sewing club after school and the dusk was rolling down the hills.
As we walked along the path we came upon the three cottages.
All of a sudden, there appeared on the path in front of us this large animal.
It was big, black hair and it's eyes were yellow.
Both my cousin and I stood very still, scared stiff.
Next thing we knew it rose up on its hind legs and let out a deafening scream!
Both my cousin and I screamed, turned and ran to our nans house.
Both sets of parents were called to take us home as we were really scared.
Our grandad came home in the middle of all of this and when he was told what had happened he said "they've just met King Alfred's Bear!"
The village was close to were King Alfred was born with lots of historical sites around it.
I remember a few of these stories of king alfreds bear growing up.
NEVER walked that way home again!

I have a couple, not sure if they're spooky but I'll share anyway... Since it's almost Halloween Halloween Smile

Once I was walking home from school and I got to the bottom of my street and there was a girl walking up it, in the middle of the road REALLY slowly. Like snail's pace. I knew most people by face from that road and often saw people walking home from school but I didn't recognise her - however it was a street on a bus route so not too weird for someone new to have been there. I was walking on the path and gaining on her quickly and when I walked next to her she stopped walking and whipped round to face me - I didn't even pause, I just upped my pace and didn't stop until I got home. I never saw her again, not sure what was up with her?

The second one I was at home in my room and I used to like having background noise so I'd put a series or a movie on on my TV and play it in the background but then I'd get bored and want to listen to music so I'd pause whatever was playing and put music on through my speakers. The TV went to screensaver mode but then suddenly it went back to the frame from the movie as if someone had pressed a button and in the corner it said 'command not available'. It did that about three times before I picked up the remote and turned it over so the buttons were against the bed. The second I put the remote down my stereo cut out. I raced downstairs and didn't go back up until I had to go to bed.

I'll join in the Halloween fun. I can guarantee mine haven't been shared before on other threads as I'm a fairly new member (long time lurker).

-The school I work in is apparently haunted. I saw a chair slide backwards on its own about a foot, but there's been various other creepy phenomena experienced by others.

-The creepiest 'real life' story I've heard was not actually mine, but my friend's. When he was a teen boy, he was home with a friend (just 2 of them in the house) and they decided to get something out the attic. When they went up there, they saw a really skeletal-thin, black arm reach out from the shadows... ...or so he told me! It really creeped me out!
