AIBU to tell you all that I just took a fork out ... to eat cereal!

I've been known to use a knife to make a cup of tea !

IhateBoswell · 30/10/2020 10:57

If it was Shredded Wheat it was probably more suitable 🤔

It was sultana bran! That’s when you know you are tired eh?

Yep! I actually went to put the kettle in the fridge last week after making a coffee.

IndieRo · 30/10/2020 11:06

I've been known to butter bread with a spoon

SoupDragon · 30/10/2020 11:06

I once made my mug of coffee by putting boiling water in the coffee caddy rather than my mug.

GuyFawkesHadTheRightIdea · 30/10/2020 11:11

Another one here who tried to put the kettle in the fridge after making a cuppa.

Also I put a spoon of coffee in my cup on Sunday, got the 'muuuuummmm!!' call and went to see what the drama was. Came back to my cup, put a TEABAG in having completely forgotten the spoonful of coffee already residing in there. Made a really foul concoction 😂

I once took the toaster into the shower with me Shock I had a newborn, luckily DH asked wtf I was doing and took it off me. I was so foggy. I think we'd been talking about having some toast after my shower, and I'd got it all mixed up.

What.A.Twat.

Never done anything like it since, thank god.

Holy hell! Thank goodness he did.

Yes, it was a dark day! I was so upset I'd nearly bumped myself off with my own stupidity and ds would have lost his mother, he was only about 3 weeks old.

Hey ho, he's 9yo now and we're all still here Grin

To be fair, I'm not fussy about what cutlery I use to make tea. It only has to be capable of getting a teabag out of the cup and stirring it, and anything can do that. You don't really need a spoon as there's nothing you need to pick up that needs to be supported by the solid metal - a fork or a knife work just fine!
CounsellorTroi · 30/10/2020 11:38

I once opened a bag of fresh coffee ready to make some and emptied the lot into the cafetière instead of the coffee caddy.

TeapotCollection · 30/10/2020 11:45

I came downstairs one morning the other week, put my dirty washing in the recycling bin and empty plastic bottle in the washer

I didn’t notice I’d done it, and even had the cheek to ask DH why HE had put the plastic bottle in the washer when I saw him taking it out 😁

itsgettingweird · 30/10/2020 11:49

Putting items in the fridge is a huge repeated mistake here too!

I've no idea why. Maybe it's one of those subconscious things of hiding mess behind closed doors Grin

MrsPloddyPlop · 30/10/2020 11:55

Not quite the same but I once deliberately ate a salad with a spoon because I couldn't be bothered to wash a fork Grin

On more that one occasion I have got up to put my dirty cup into the kitchen and started going upstairs into my bedroom instead!

Also just recently I dropped an egg and it landed in my shoe :-(

Maybe I shouldn't live alone...….

Imarriedaviking · 30/10/2020 12:18

Many years ago was making breakfast for DP.
Scrambled eggs and fresh coffee, easy eh?
Except I broke the eggs into the cafetière, which already had coffee in.
Still reminds me to this day.
Makes his own eggs now.

TheSunIsStillShining · 30/10/2020 12:53

My dad was looking for his glasses many years back. After an hour or so we joked that the fridge was the only place he hadn't looked. Yup, they were there....

I once put 2 spoons of salt in my coffee. Then automatically spat it out when trying to drink it. Onto the newly painted (by me) yellow wall. Not a fun morning.

one xmas eve husband was getting the duck breasts out of the oven, tipped the tray and all the fat and juices landed partially on his hand and on the kitchen floor. Because it was burning hot through the oven mites he dropped the whole big tray and xmas dinner landed on the floor.

LBOCS2 · 30/10/2020 12:57

I have twice made coffee by putting everything necessary into my mug and then carefully turning on the cold tap to fill it up.

My children sleep a solid 12hrs a night. I have no excuse!

mammato5 · 30/10/2020 13:15

Yesterday i could hear my phone ringing but couldn't find it. Yep it was in the door of the fridge and the milk was in the sink 🤣 roll on Monday when school opens.

RonObvious · 30/10/2020 13:33

I have a wonderful photo of my husband looking down sadly at an upside-down coffee cup, onto which he had just tipped a teaspoonful of sugar.

IloveZoflora · 30/10/2020 13:36

LouiseTrees I needed this! It actually made me laugh really hard. THANK YOU. I was /am having such a shit day but that actually made me feel better!

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 01/11/2020 14:37

Newborn baby...
Repeating 2 things to myself as I went to the kitchen.
Ds Wants weetabix, dcat wants felix.
Ds wants weetabix, dcat wants felix
As I squeezed a packet of felix in to ds cereal bowl.
Neither ds nor dcat actually ate the felix

ViciousJackdaw · 01/11/2020 15:26

Empty yoghurt pot in the sink, used teaspoon in the bin happens to me frequently.

MrsExpo · 01/11/2020 15:35

I frequently retrieve tea spoons from the bin ... I chuck them in the with tea bag!! I'm another one who often finds car keys/mobile phone/folded up shopping bags in the fridge.

Also ... Back in April, during lock down, there was no milk in the fridge ... It was in the freezer (but actually thawed out well and we used it as normal .... so learned something!)
