18 months ago my child was seriously ill. He needed admission but there was no space. We were sent home at 1am, a senior nurse put in a complaint stating that she felt we were unsafe to go home.

We were under strict instructions to come back at 8am the next day to continue treatment.

After 6 days in the hospital (and 6 nights at home) they were concerned about sepsis as his temp kept dropping to 35. We were given extra strength meds, again, kept until 1am and sent back home.

Last winter, I took my child to the GP. She called an ambulance and we were blue lighted in. We were stood outside resus with him on the trolley with the doctor saying "this is the child for resus but there is another child in there." Within 15 minutes we saw 2 nurses, a doctor, consultant and a paediatrician.

8 weeks ago we called 999. An ambulance and a first response car arrived for my child in 2 minutes. For this I am very thankful.

There is nothing "wrong" with my child. He is a regular child who just gets very sick when he gets sick. He's only 3.

This is my life. My child WILL need hospital care again this winter. I've experienced first hand the frustrations of the doctors and nurses at not being able to find space for my child when needed. I have no idea what is going to happen this winter when we are pressed for space even further.

I'm not brave enough to ask this really but aibu to think this is a genuine concern? I have a feeling of dread that I can't shake. We are walking straight into this
