Never ending period

I have been on the contraceptive pill for over 10 years, not so much as a family planning tool, but because my periods were extremely heavy and it was hard to cope with. Recently I put in a repeat prescription request to have it denied , doctor says I am too old now ( I am in my late 40’s). Since coming off the pill, I have had a heavy 7 week period with no sign of it stopping. I am extremely tired, and not coping with the flooding that I have always suffered with. ( Hence the reason, I was put on the pill where you don’t have periods) I have telephoned my GP several times who seems to think this is Ok, and won’t see me and says this is just my body adjusting. AIBU to think 7 weeks is excessive and I just want the bloody doctor to see me!

That is excessive. Keep pushing, ask to talk to a woman because women are never taken seriously.

Tell them that you are going to PALS. This is a medical issue, not just a matter of contraception (which would be solved by condoms). Ypu need the reasoning behind coming off the pill and why another treatment pathway wasn't planned for.

Haven't they even offered Norethisterone?

Absolutely not ok and is no way to live. Ask to see a different GP or go to PALS. If it is an issue for you then it is an issue!!
