Botox hasn't worked after 10 days

Versace104 · 29/10/2020 19:42

Had it around my crows feet and lines under my eyes, it was a special offer on for £30 (I know). Seem to get bad twitches in my eyes and was informed it would help, but getting rid of the lines was a bonus.
Anyway, 10 days in and no difference at all, but still bruised.
I was told 2 weeks for the full effect, but surely i'd be able to see a difference now to some extent ?

I'm pretty young so the lines are fine, and I was told they would 'vanish completely' as a result but they are still there..

£30? No way it was actual Botox for that price

Versace104 · 29/10/2020 19:48

It was a beautician, and I probably have been naïve and should have researched more, if it wasn't botox i'd love to know what they have put into my face lol

£30?! And you agreed to be injected with this cut price crap? Whatever it was it wasn't botox. Really hope that there are no long lasting ill effects for you. You are incredibly naive for doing this.

Versace104 · 29/10/2020 19:52

OK i've been very stupid, it was a beautician who has really good reviews and it was a special offer. Should I make a complaint to them ?

Shastabeast · 29/10/2020 19:52

£30 is crazy. I have no idea what the price is for the actual Botox.

I have it in my jaw for pain reasons and it starts taking effect a few days later, two weeks for the full effect. But it’s obvious for the jaw as the muscles get weaker. Not sure how it feels around the eyes. Is movement restricted at all?

SimoneAndGarfunkel · 29/10/2020 19:54

When I first had Botox (on the NHS for a medical condition) I noticed a big difference after 2-3 days.

sadonfriday · 29/10/2020 19:54

Botox is forehead up isn’t it? Fillers below?

Also I pay £150 for one line between my brows, I would be concerned what you’ve injected with

vanillandhoney · 29/10/2020 19:55

I'm pretty sure that wasn't Botox...

FOJN · 29/10/2020 19:55

I really hope they didn't inject underneath your eye, it's not approved and could be very dangerous.

£30 seems far too cheap to be real botox. I use to work in a clinic and pay twice that amount which was the cost price of the product, a colleague would inject at no extra charge. A vial of botox use to cost the clinic approx £120 and that was a few years ago.

They either used a very, very small dose (not enough to be effective) or a very cheap ineffective product.

Most clinics will offer a top up after 14 days if the desired result hasn't been achieved but yes you would expect to see results by now.

They do not sound like a reputable clinic.

Versace104 · 29/10/2020 19:55

It did seem low, but i'm sick of these eye spasms/twitches, i've been to the opticians, take supplements, but nothing.

There's no restricted movement at all. It felt 'heavy' the first day but nothing now, it's like I never had anything.
Looking back, the beautician and her business partner came to mine and didn't really talk through the procedure or ask questions, just injected me, said, right done, and that was it.

userxx · 29/10/2020 19:56

£30, stop it! That wasn't botox 🤷‍♂️

Versace104 · 29/10/2020 19:56

I know i've been stupid and will be avoiding aesthetics places in the future.

OP posts:
Versace104 · 29/10/2020 20:00

They charge £150 for 3 areas apparently.

FOJN · 29/10/2020 20:00

Oh I see it was a beautician! Did you see a doctor (face to face consult) for the botox to be prescribed? It is a legal requirement.

I think you've been very luck to just get ripped off for £30. Incorrectly administered botox can have horrendous, life changing consequences. If you wish to have it again then please research a reputable clinic. Expect to pay in the hundreds of pounds.

SoddingWeddings · 29/10/2020 20:01

Woah, red flags everywhere. Did you see the vial they used?

If they are a beautician, who does their prescribing for them?

I have lots of Botox for a medical reason (NHS) and have 41 injections every 12wks. I tend to see it working after a week, and at full power after 12 days.

AldiIsla · 29/10/2020 20:02

Bloody hell.

Ask her what it actually was, so you know. Just in case.

I'd honestly take "no effect" as a positive. I'm not judging, I'm a sucker for a bargain, I'd have fell for it too, but £30 is a cheap lesson if that's all that you've lost. Sounds like there's no chance it was Botox.

Maybe go to docs, say how much the eye twitch is affecting your life (so much that you tried this) then they can check you're definitely okay and perhaps help with the twitch.

AldiIsla · 29/10/2020 20:04

Meant to add, I do hope you find answers. I know how it is to feel that nothing is helping and to try anything in despairation. Flowers

Versace104 · 29/10/2020 20:06

I've been very naïve, it's awful really isn't it to think they can inject people and rip them off/leave people with potential damage.
They do 1ml of lip filler for £85 which seems incredibly cheap too.
I've learned my lesson anyway. I can't afford botox for hundreds of ££ sadly, but i'll get a Drs appointment if I can.

You cannot buy lip filler at cost for £85, not one I'd trust anyway.

Pinkyandthebrainz · 29/10/2020 20:20

That definitely wasn't botox. Just pray to God it was water and you don't lose half your face in the coming months.

cheeseismydownfall · 29/10/2020 20:23

Lesson learned there OP! Thank goodness nothing went seriously wrong.

My Botox costs £250 from an amazing GP who has a private practice. She has a clinical understanding of the muscles that she is targeting and is very skilful and absolutely meticulous - there are basically no marks whatsoever, even immediately after the treatment, and most definitely nothing even approaching bruising.

Sadly the industry is completely unregulated. There is a private members bill being brought at the moment to introduce some safeguarding for under-18's seeking these treatments, but it is basically the wild west out there. When you compare it to the licensing and regulations that tattoo artists have to comply with it is pretty shocking that this has been allowed to happen.

NinaNannoo · 29/10/2020 20:25

My first thought was that it can take 2 weeks.
My second was £30!!!!!! For Botox?!?!
What?!?! Shock

Meepmeeep · 29/10/2020 20:30

£30 - you get what you pay for and in your case it ain’t Botox.

To previous poster saying below forehead it’s fillers that’s incorrect. I’ve had Botox in my cheeks and lash line.

Lougle · 29/10/2020 20:30

I had Botox for migraines (currently waiting again). 25 injections. Sometimes bleed, but never bruise. Lucky escape,I think.
