To ask for Halloween fairy cake decoration ideas.

I’m stumped. I’ve got some black icing. Any really simple but effective ideas on how to decorate them with a Halloween theme? My creativity has gone.

DC (11 & 5) and I made bat cupcakes this afternoon. They had a blast decorating them and very easy for them.
Sliced the top off the cupcake, cut the top in half, dollop of choc buttercream, wedged the wings in, finished off with edible eyes by House of Cake.

If it's writing icing you could draw spider webs on vanilla cakes

@deelish that looks fab and simple. I have mini marshamallows and chic chips so could use them for eyes. Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately the icing is the ready roll stuff so not The writing kind.

Pipe or blob plain buttercream onto the cupcake then use tiny bits of black icing to make eyes for ghosts

White icing and then black icing to draw a spider web.

My favourite low effort high impact decoration is a blob of chocolate buttercream (I buy a tub of ready made chocolate fudge icing), crushed up chocolate biscuits as dirt and gummy worms.

When my son was little (fifteen or so years ago) we used to make ' ghosty cakes'. You buy or make fairy cakes or muffins, put a blob of (bought) buttercream on the top as a head shape, cut out a circle of white fondant icing slightly bigger than the muffin and shape a round head and a sort of billowing ghostly form of icing around it. Use black writing icing and/or choc chips for the features on the head. Hope you understand my instructions! They are pretty easy but a big sugar- overload so maybe make them with smaller fairy cakes rather than hefty muffins! They actually look great, sorry I haven't got a picture.

That's double scary this year! 2 points!

If the marshmallows are pink, you could slightly melt them and use a bit of jam (if you have) to make brain tops

This was years ago my aunt made a Halloween cake and one thing I remember she put ice cream cones which she decorated to look like witches hats on the top. She might have used marzipan balls for the heads.
