Do you just not? Or is there a way to do this that doesn’t feel like your organs are being crushed??

I used to sort of straddle/kneel over a big pile of cushions, if that makes sense. How you'd sit if you were on one of those backless ergonomic office seats. But basically it's really uncomfortable, sorry!

Yoga ball also helpful at this stage

PenOrPencil · 29/10/2020 17:10

Yoga ball. Sitting and being heavily pregnant don’t really go together very well. Lying down on one side with a breast feeding cushion propping up one leg is sort of comfy.

You need a large comfy sofa or bed to lounge on. You can't sit upright or properly for very long.

Twilightiscoming · 29/10/2020 17:23

Thanks! I feel lazy lying down all the time but I’m soooo uncomfortable sitting!

@Twilightiscoming I am only half way and so uncomfortable today sitting because of the way baby is. Really hoping it won't be like this til March!

farandfew · 29/10/2020 17:33

Thick cushion behind the bottom of your back so you can lean back over it!

likeafishneedsabike · 29/10/2020 17:40

Yoga ball is the only way!

Ronia · 29/10/2020 17:45

Another vote for a yoga/exercise ball. I was able to put it behind the sofa so I could lean forward on the sofa and sit comfortably. Also sat like this for most of labour which really helped (they do say you should sit Upright Forward and Open -UFO - in labour)

Twilightiscoming · 29/10/2020 17:48

I’m not clear on the yoga ball sorry, how does it help?

Most sofas you're sitting on the small of your back, slouching, not good for your back with the extra weight of pregnancy plus it encourages baby to go back to back.

Sitting upright or leaning forward, with weight on sit bones, is better. Yoga ball is hard to slouch on and you keep bouncing and shifting which is good. I found sitting on sofa on top of some solid cushions was good, always leaning forward slightly. You can also kneel on floor and lean on yoga ball, or sit on the edge of a chair and lean on the back of another one. I also had a bolster cushion to sit on, was much comfier and easier to get off than the floor.

Spinning babies website has good stuff on exercises/sitting/sleeping in late pregnancy.

Another one for exercise ball, I sit on it all evening now. I didn't think it would be comfortable as you're so upright but it's dreamy compared to the sofa. For me personally it does cause Braxton hicks, but not enough to be uncomfortable!

I would lie in my side with a cushion under the bump.
