Hi all,
I desperately need a laptop for myself, looking at mac air for ages, can't decide, sometimes I think I can't justify the cost sometimes I think -yes I deserve it, I love apple products to be honest had enough of microsoft too! Anyways, now I am looking at ipad pro- looks great, easier to use than laptop but I am wondering can it replace a laptop? Anyone bought it and what are your thoughts so far? Appreciate your reviews
Many thanks

Yes. I have one and a MacBook Air and I don't touch it anymore because I love my iPad too much.

I have a pro with the official Apple keyboard. I choose this over my laptop so often!

FabbyChix · 29/10/2020 15:26

You can get a keyboard for it so yes hypothetically, but you'd need to get the Apps for Word etc.,

Searchesforhipbones · 29/10/2020 15:28

Does anyone know where to get the best sim only plan for one?

Frdd · 29/10/2020 15:29

I have both. There’s some tech stuff to do with my job the iPad can’t do but if all I was doing was personal stuff the iPad would be great.

And I have a cheap keyboard off amazon with a built In stand that was £15

It depends what you are using it for. But even if only using for things it can do reasonably well, I wouldn't want my main computer to have such a small screen.

(I'm someone who uses a PC because I don't want to waste money on laptop screens. I want a much bigger screen than I can get on any laptop.)

Leaannb · 29/10/2020 15:38

Its really going to depend on what you use a laptop for

Lolwhat · 29/10/2020 15:41

I prefer my iPad to my laptop, so quick and easy to use

RandomLondoner · 29/10/2020 15:44

I've just looked at Ipad Pro prices, the cheap ones appear to cost twice as much as the Windows 10 laptop with 15 inch screen that DW got at start of lockdown...

I also have one with the official Apple keyboard and its great. I don't think I've used my laptop since we got it and as we got the larger one I also use it as a kitchen TV. We didn't bother with the SIM version as there is so much wifi availability now. On the rare occasion there is no wifi access I just 'tether' it to my phone and use the data from the phone plan. I have Office 365/OneDrive so access all my documents in the cloud. You can then download the Word and Excel app to your iPad and create/edit from there.

Thank you for all messages. I want it for my personal stuff like my photos, budget files, my documents etc. I have office 360 so that won't be a problem for me. I have an iphone, we all do in the house so I want all sync, my pictures icloud drive etc, I would probably go with the bigger screen. I work from home, I have a work laptop and a second large screen. As I use these everyday for work, I don't like the idea of getting another big screen as much as I like bigger screens! So I thought ipad might come more user friendly to me, as it is not a laptop or a PC but with all the functionality
