To think I cannot be pregnant

For the past week I’ve had constant nausea, similar to morning sickness BUT I had a very normal, very heavy period not one week ago.

I’ve had no unprotected sex, and the contraception I’ve used I am certain was effective (condoms)

I haven’t taken a pregnancy test as I am just certain it isn’t that but what else could it be?

Is it worth testing? Has anyone ever got pregnant this way before?

I should add I’ve had a covid test as I have come into contact with someone with covid last week - this was negative.

I also do not want to be pregnant. At all so this isn’t wishful thinking!

It could be anything, you could be coming down with something. Can you get someone to get you a pregnancy test since you're in isolation after being in contact last week? I guess it is plausible also that you do have covid as it can take up to 14 days.

CaribouCarafe · 29/10/2020 09:44

Only way to be sure is to take a test, even though it sounds unlikely.

Tunnocks34 · 29/10/2020 09:44

I don’t have to isolate as it was a fellow teacher who had covid - apparently this isn’t a close enough link to require it!

Ahh ok. Well glad you are negative then.

nevermorelenore · 29/10/2020 09:46

Are you taking anything like antidepressants or supplements? When I started on iron pills I felt like I had morning sickness all day. Sounds more like a bug or food intolerance though.

SpeccyLime · 29/10/2020 09:48

There are hundreds of things that can cause nausea - bugs, food intolerances, stress, food poisoning, allergies, viruses etc. I think you can breathe easy - you’re very unlikely to be pregnant!

Nottherealslimshady · 29/10/2020 09:49

I would think some kind of stomach upset. Could it be constipation? Does anything make it worse or better?
I recently became intolerant to quorn which made me constantly nauseous because I'd eat it every day so was always reacting to it. Could you try removing a common intolerant food from your diet and see if it gets better? Dairy, gluten, quorn, you can become intolerant at any time.

MiddleClassProblem · 29/10/2020 09:52

I had pregnancy like symptoms, random bleeding and a faint line on a pregnancy test but I didn’t think I was pregnant. It turned out to be a type of fibroid.

Equally, condoms aren’t 100% and it doesn’t matter how many times they have worked before.

Tunnocks34 · 29/10/2020 09:53

Possibly dairy and caffeine? They are main common denominator.

Maybe it is just the stress of half term! Ha!

During this pregnancy I had a normal period before my BFP at 6 weeks.
Felt nauseous and pregnant too that's why I took the test.

Only difference is I was having unprotected sex... But condoms can split.

So it's unlikely you are pregnant but it isn't impossible. I'd take a cheapy test.

Bobbiepin · 29/10/2020 16:41

Only way to put your mind at rest is to take a test.

MustardMitt · 29/10/2020 16:44

Unlikely, I wouldn’t bother taking a test until my period was over a week late. Stress can do funny things to your cycle, and stressing about pregnancy can make it your period even later.

Boom45 · 29/10/2020 16:48

I get anxiety induced nausea (without always knowing I'm anxious weirdly) and it feels exactly like morning sickness did. Take a test to put your mind at rest, which might calm the nausea down, but it doesn't sound likely.

2bazookas · 29/10/2020 17:08

??????Condoms are no guarantee of effective contraception.

Tunnocks34 · 29/10/2020 17:19

@2bazookas this I know but typically when a condom fails you know.

sertraline gave me all the "signs" of being pregnant when I wasn't. As someone said antidepressants can have certain side effects

Queenfreak · 29/10/2020 17:39

Are your eyes ok? Don't need an eye test?
Do you need to crack a window at night? If i don't then I feel nauseous and headachy the next day.

Tunnocks34 · 29/10/2020 18:29

No not on any anti depressants! I think I’ll take a test and if negative just rest up.

Thanks al lx
