Is there a version of 'bah humbug' for birthdays??
This isn't an age thing I'm going to be 32 in a few weeks time and just can't be bothered with it all any more....
People ask me for list of things I want - I don't WANT or NEED anything so for the past few years I've just said - pick something like a goat out of an alternative gift catalogue and 'give' me that or maybe vouchers but NO that won't do they have to buy me something they can wrap - arggh whats the point in asking me if you're just going to buy me what you think i want??? (don't get me wrong I do appreciate the thought but still).
I don't see the point in going out - besides its too expensive and a hassle to organise a sitter. I haven't had a party since I was 12 so don't see why I should have one now.

Can't I just have lay in and then get on with life without people trying to be all 'fun' and 'exciting' for 1 day.
BAH HUMBUG!!!

I usually feel like that before my birthday, but then afterwards wish everyone had made more fuss!

Niecie · 15/10/2007 11:40

I feel exactly the same, mumclaire. My children's birthdays seem more of a cause for celebration than mine does - I actually remember the day they were born.

I can never think of anything I would like either unless it costs a fortune or it is something like time to myself which is hard to come by and a hassle for me to organise!

On the other hand I love Christmas as everybody is a part of it and I don't feel like I am the odd one out for the day.

Bah Humbug too.

LOL, you are the complete opposite of me. I LOVE my birthday! I almost always have a party .

DH thinks as you do, but he knows it's more than his life is worth to try and ignore my birthday!

I'm with you mumclaire! I can never think of anything i want for my bday and dont like such a fuss made out of me! I like to fade into the background all other days of the year so why would i want everyone singing hapy birthday to me in the middle of the office!! Its embarrassing!!
The point of birthdays should be to do what you want to do, so if you'd like a lie in, you make sure you get one!!

It's a shame people don't respect you when you say what you want! For a few years now, I have a) vouchers from rellies and b) a spa afternoon from dh. And that's perfect. But fortunately, people understand that I'm decluttering these days!

I hate birthdays too, and I'm pretty fed up with having to buy stuff for my brothers and my sisters in law. I mean they're all over 40 now, surely it should stop and we should just concentrate on the kids.

I can't be bothered with my birthday. I'd rather buy myself a nice present that I've saved up for than get loads of rubbish that I don't want from my family and then have to do the same for them. Bah humbug!

Ask for a charity goat for your B-day .
