That really?

I am drinking ALOT, i caught myself on last week when i drank a bottle of red wine and didn't have a hangover 😱 then i looked back on the week. 3 bottles of wine and a couple bottles of cider. Harry westons which is really strong.

I had a stressfull week and that was more than i usually drink but probably since lockdown im drinking most nights if not every night. Its usually 2 glasses of wine or a bottle of cider.

Thats too much and i need to stop, or cut back. So this is day 3 with no alcohol. Last night i really fancied a drink but i didnt have one, tonight ive not wanted any.

Im on ADs so i know its not a good mix.

I just wondered really how i compare to others?

1-1.5 bottles of wine a week. Since March I've had to really make an effort to keep my drinking in line. I try not to go over the recommended 14 units a week. It's so easy to overdo isn't it? If I wasn't able to just cut down I'd stop altogether I think.

commandatori · 28/10/2020 22:58

Maximum three glasses of wine a week. More over lockdown but I cut down a lot.

yellowmaoampinball · 28/10/2020 22:58

Oh and I spread it over Friday and Saturday night. I never drink on a work night

Mondaymanic · 28/10/2020 22:58

Depends what I'm doing but approx a bottle of wine a week and four ciders. I'd usually have one weekend night with four or five drinks, then the other weekend night or a Sunday with two drinks. Probably two more throughout the week. I'm not worried at all, I enjoy a drink but can do without no problem.

Krazynights34 · 28/10/2020 22:59

I drink more than anybody else who has commented above- because of circumstances I assume it will make diddly squat difference to the world if it’s an “issue”, my DD would forget me in about 2 days and no-one else gives a shit (reaches for the late night booze delivery service).

TheoriginalLEM · 28/10/2020 23:01

I definitely drinking more since lockdown.

So here's to cutting down and maybe lising some weight. Grin

I like a drink most nights. A glass of wine but i never drink enough to be drunk. I hate the drunk feeling.

But I've recently noticed I don’t sleep well. So for the past week I've not had a drink and I sleep much better.

And its better for my pocket too

Kerberos · 28/10/2020 23:03

Hardly any. I've not had any alcohol in about a month. Last time was sharing a few bottles of prosecco with a close friend. Before that probably none for a couple of months.

I don't drink at home, just not a habit i got into. Drinking is more of a social thing for me, and despite living in a low covid area I've not been out to a pub as it doesn't feel very safe.

1/2 double g&t about 4 times a week, and maybe 4/5 doubles once a fortnight. It's probably considered too much... 🤷🏼‍♀️

BackforGood · 28/10/2020 23:08

This question gets asked fairly regularly, and when people post that they perhaps only have a drink or two a month, they usually get mocked (as per pp).
However, I think this is something you should worry about :
but the habit was home from work couple glasses. If i cook dinner (rare as dp home first) ill easily put away a bottle of wine. I look forward to a drink when i get home.

Perhaps commit to going without a drink for a month and see how much it bothers you ?

Scbchl · 28/10/2020 23:09

We binge drink a fair bit on a Saturday and then I feel shit and on a downer till Wednesday, so decided to try stop till xmas. Didnt drink last Saturday and feel MUCH better.

BawJaws · 28/10/2020 23:10

I share a bottle of wine every week with dh and that’s it.

I did get to a point in lockdown where I was drinking daily and that’s really not my way. Pure stress I guess.

Terrace58 · 28/10/2020 23:12

On average about 1 Drink a month. It’s just not something I care much about and having been raised by alcoholics, I have always been cautious with alcohol.

AgeLikeWine · 28/10/2020 23:15

The amount I drink has increased significantly since the start of lockdown. I now do much less at weekends, so there’s no need to get up early, so there’s no reason not to have a drink the night before, hence...

I’m drinkIng the equivalent of 3-4 bottles of wine plus 1/3 of a bottle of whisky a week. It’s too much, and I know I need to cut down, but I enjoy it and there’s not a lot else to enjoy at the moment.

HerRoyalNotness · 28/10/2020 23:18

Peaks and troughs. Was drinking every night early in lockdown then stopped that and drank on weekends only. Said weekends became longer and it’s back to every night again. Anywhere between 1 and 4 drinks. Yep it’s too much and too often, but meh.

Soxandseven · 28/10/2020 23:19

Probably about the same as you op and agelikewine. Too much and I worry about it, but I’m sad at the moment and also don’t really care. I’ve put on shed loads of weight, I assume the wine, and I’m starting to get sick of it so when I’ve had enough I’ll stop drinking all together. I can’t do moderation unfortunately, it’s a whole bottle or nothing

GivingItAMiss · 28/10/2020 23:26

I don't drink much (2 cans of cider or two g and ts about 4 times a week) but I have recognised it's not doing me any favours so I've decided to stop. I'm on day 19 and doing surprisingly well. No real cravings etc just the odd thought about having a drink but it passes quickly.
I lived with an alcoholic for years and would be drunk every night pre children. Nowadays by OH is teetotal which makes not drinking easier.

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 28/10/2020 23:28

A few years ago I got into the habit of having a gin and tonic every evening after work, then it was two, then three. Did nothing for my anxiety or sleep quality. I stopped keeping any alcohol in the house as I wanted to stop drinking out of habit. Nowadays I do have a nice bottle of my favourite gin in the kitchen, but don't drink at home very often; it's still the same bottle from Christmas.

I had a cocktail and a glass of wine on Sunday, before that my last drink was probably in August. If I am struggling with my anxiety or feeling depressed then I try to avoid alcohol, it makes me feel much worse.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 28/10/2020 23:29

I don’t tend to drink at all Monday to Thursday. I probably have a glass or maybe two of wine on Sunday.
The amount I drink on Friday and Saturday varies depending what we are doing. Can be quite boozy if we go out but at home would probably be half a bottle of wine on Friday and same on Saturday. Or maybe two double gins

I was drinking more earlier in lockdown but it was still only Thursday to Sunday. I made a conscious decision not to let it become every night

This sounds like me.

I still get up for work and I'm fine but when I look at the units 🥺

shas19 · 28/10/2020 23:40

Saturdays consists of cocktails for us. Sounds awful when I write it down but can easily polish off a 70cl vodka , half a passoa and abit of gin or rum. Cocktails are the devils juice. They go down toooo easy!

colouringindoors · 28/10/2020 23:44

I've just finished a bottle of wine. Without much trouble.

I drink more than the 14 units. Quite a bit more.

I know it's not good.
