One family member says yes, one says no it’s fine.

Help a sister out here.

YABU - yes it’s grim
YANBU - no what’s a bit more water?

@DappledThings I totally get your point.
Sitting on loo soaking wet and cold?

On the scale of things am much MUCH more grossed out by people who think it's acceptable to let their dog poo just outside school and leave it there for 200 kids to march through.

Peeing in the bath is just between me and the bath, it's not anti social like the above.

HellooJackie · 28/10/2020 19:42

@FarTooSkinny

Shower fine, bath not

Pooing in the shower also ok as long as you use DH's toothbrush to poke it down

😂😂

😂😂 hilarious

GhostCurry · 28/10/2020 19:51

“ DH and I debated whether DD needed a new bath when she weed in it yesterday. My view was it was sterile and only a tiny bit so not worth fishing her out and rerunning the bath. He won and said we should change it.”

God, this is depressing. Who cares about a bit of kid pee in the bath.

emmathedilemma · 28/10/2020 20:07

Standard UK bath is 1.7m long by 0.7m wide.
Let's say you fill it to 25cm deep, that's a water volume of 0.3m^3 or 300 litres.
You pee 800-2000ml a day, so let's say you have a really big wee in the bath of 300ml (it makes the maths easier, it's probably not even that much).
That's 0.3litres in a volume of 300 litres so 0.1% of the bath is urine, it's hardly stewing in your own piss!!

ZombieAttack · 28/10/2020 20:12

Urine is not sterile.

This is the maths I was thinking about doing! Thank you for getting ahead of me.
ramarama · 28/10/2020 20:18

@emmathedilemma thanks for doing the maths, that's genuinely interesting.

It's pretty amusing how disgusted so many people are. Compared to all the other rude, gross and antisocial stuff I see people doing every day, I'd say peeing in the bath was small fry (I even tell my DS that I don't mind if he does it) I also think perhaps the mumsnetters doth protest too much....?Grin

Lena is that you?

thanks for doing the maths! I get cystitis & utis from time to time - peeing as I get in the bath is often involuntary - but at most a teaspoon (guess, not measured), so that's more like 0.05 litres - and I have a larger than average bath, so I feel a lot better.
paintmywholehousecobweb · 28/10/2020 20:27

I really can't bring myself to get worked up about this 🤷‍♀️

purplewolfie · 28/10/2020 20:27

Sometimes, if the bath is going cold, it warms it up a bit :D

paintmywholehousecobweb · 28/10/2020 20:28

Lol @purplewolfie 😂

cardibach · 28/10/2020 20:30

@CanICelebrate

That’s disgusting! I’ve done a wee in the shower a couple of times when I’ve been desperate but the bath is just gross
Why would you be desperate in the shower? It takes about 10 mins top to shower. Wee first. If you’re desperate within the time for a shower I think you probably need to see a doctor!
CanICelebrate · 28/10/2020 21:50

@cardibach

One of our shower rooms doesn’t have a toilet in there and I genuinely don’t have great bladder control so the few times I’ve done it I was fairly desperate!!!

CanICelebrate · 28/10/2020 21:51

Plus the sound of running water makes me need to pee too!

BurbageBrook · 28/10/2020 22:04

I really don't think it's that bad... it's sterile and I'd rather do this than get out the bath. I rinse off with soap in the shower after every bath anyway!

Nope, still don’t get it. Why go into the shower when you already need a wee quite noticeably? Doesn’t matter where the loo is, it just seems ridiculous to me.

NancysDream · 28/10/2020 22:12

Urine is not sterile. That's a myth. And there is a big difference between the ratio of water to urine in a home bath tub compared to in a swimming pool, river or ocean. So it's rank, yeah.

twobrews · 28/10/2020 22:26

I don't see baths on the whole as a way to get clean, I always shower off afterwards so a bit of diluted piss wouldn't bother me.

Having said that it's not like I aim to go in the bath either, not pissing in the bath is the gold standard!

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 28/10/2020 22:28

Shower, fine. Bath, no.

GenevaL · 28/10/2020 22:50

Vile.

TiddyTid · 28/10/2020 22:50

Urine is sterile. Well, sterile enough for me to pee in the bath and get out ready to DH to get in.

Ginfordinner · 28/10/2020 23:10

@Nottherealslimshady

Baths are gross anyway, soaking in a soup of your bum sweat, discharge, sweat and grime. What's a bit of extra bodily fluid.
That's a hysterical over reaction. I tend not to be sweaty or grimy when I get in the bath.
