One family member says yes, one says no it’s fine.

Help a sister out here.

YABU - yes it’s grim
YANBU - no what’s a bit more water?

Wow. Eyes open that some people thinking having a wee in bath is ok!!? I would've thought this was 100% no way. That's grim

Yeah, I know these hygiene/cleanliness threads always get very extreme reactions from both sides on mumsnet, and usually I'm rolling my eyes when people say things like "Omg I can't believe anyone washes their hands using shower gel" or something nonsense like that, but I genuinely thought the vote would be more or less unanimous against bathing in your own piss.

gurglebelly · 28/10/2020 18:37

How is this even a question. You are sitting there in your own piss, of course it's disgusting! The only time it's even remotely acceptable is when you have a tear/issue where it is the only comfortable way (but still disgusting)

JeVoudrais · 28/10/2020 18:38

My three month old DD wees in the bath and I don't change the water Blush

KarmaStar · 28/10/2020 18:38

Yuk!surely nobody does this?mind I heard a friend day her exdh used to pleasure himself in the bath and lay in it......😕.
Having a wee in the shower is also a no for me.

MagicSummer · 28/10/2020 18:38

Actually, although I do think it is disgusting to do this, I was reminded that actually normal urine is sterile, and that is why you can drink it if you are stranded in the desert with no fresh water! Eurghhhh!

AriettyHomily · 28/10/2020 18:39

I don't bath so it's nit an option but am these people that don't peen in the bath do you go swimming in public pools? I'm sure they are full of piss and other bodily fluids chlorine or no chlorine.

I'd rather sit in my own dilute piss in a bath if I had to.

thosetalesofunexpected · 28/10/2020 18:45

Hi Op totally agree with others it is Gross why on earth would anybody want to sit, stew in their own waste discharge pee, I think having a pee when having a shower is not as bad gross if desperate, especially if with bladder problems too.

flossletsfloss · 28/10/2020 18:46

This is grim. Bathing in your own piss??? WTF

murteplod · 28/10/2020 18:49

They're both gross. Chlorine does make a big difference though.

But more to the point, if I want to go swimming, I don't really have a choice. If I could choose between a pool people have pissed in and one they haven't, I'd obviously choose the latter! And guess what, I can very easily choose to not bathe in my own piss.

Onesailwait · 28/10/2020 18:53

I get out to pee but sometimes top up the bath & get in after the kids. I know there's a good chance they've pee'd in it. Meh it's so diluted.

Mistymonday · 28/10/2020 18:56

Fine, bath and shower. Always would shower afterwards though.

thosetalesofunexpected · 28/10/2020 18:57

I think having a wee in the shower is ok,as its imediately flushed away and obviously you can wash yourself afterwards...you got to be having a giraffe about pooing in the shower 😊😕 surely !!!??

ladybee28 · 28/10/2020 19:04

To be fair I find baths in general pretty gross –you're sitting in your own dirty water and then pouring it over yourself...

Whatever dirt or bodily secretions were around your nether regions is floating about in that water anyway.

So on that basis, sod it.

Might as well –if you're well hydrated, your urine may even be cleaner than the bathwater you're soaking in! Grin

MrsMigginsMate · 28/10/2020 19:06

I can't stop my 18 month old from standing up and peeing during bath time. It's his party trick and he's very proud of it. If I faffed about changing the water during his tired and fraught bedtime routine every night I'd have given myself an aneurysm by now. I figure baby wee doesn't count, comes out like Evian and is a lot less than an adult would do!Grin But no I would never wee in my own bath water.

Ginfordinner · 28/10/2020 19:07

@Pascha

I can't believe there are some voters that think it's OK 🤮
Neither can I. FGS just go to the loo before you get in the bath. It isn't difficult.
Burnthurst187 · 28/10/2020 19:09

The reason most ppl have a bath is to clean themselves so why you'd want to go for a piss and then sit in it and smell of piss is beyond me

Lots of tramps on here

Suzi888 · 28/10/2020 19:13

Yuck! Unless there’s some medical reason for not like other posters have said, even then I’d have to shower after! I’d feel unclean!

ClementineWoolysocks · 28/10/2020 19:16

You know there's already something in the bathroom that's designed to pee in, right?

VamosAhora · 28/10/2020 19:24

Another one here who can't believe so many people do this, it's never even occurred to me.

Nottherealslimshady · 28/10/2020 19:28

Baths are gross anyway, soaking in a soup of your bum sweat, discharge, sweat and grime. What's a bit of extra bodily fluid.

ClementineWoolysocks · 28/10/2020 19:32

soaking in a soup of your bum sweat, discharge, sweat and grime

Radox should use that in their next advertising campaign.

U2HasTheEdge · 28/10/2020 19:33

If you are just about to get out of the bath? not so bad.

Peeing, then continuing to lay in it is grim.

Dagnabit · 28/10/2020 19:34

The professionally outraged are out in force this evening Grin

KisstheTeapot14 · 28/10/2020 19:35

96% water. I'm fine with that. Makes not a pin of difference.

Honestly. There are more things to worry about than a pee in the bath.

I do wonder if I will get told off if I do it when I'm an old lady (if in care home). Let's hope that never happens and I can keep my bath habits to myself.

Any care home workers have a take on this?

iago · 28/10/2020 19:37

Urine is not sterile.
