Ok so I'm unashamedly posting in AIBU for traffic.

AIBU that I have a whole Camembert, a bottle of Malbec and a need to watch the scariest fucking film you can recommend on Saturday night?

Hit me with your scary films. Aliens aren't scary. Saw shat me up.

It Stains the Sand Red, zombie film on Amazon
Evil Dead remake from 2013

hardyloveit · 27/10/2020 21:22

@Ilovegreentomatoes I want to watch tusk. Is it any good??

Ilovegreentomatoes · 27/10/2020 21:22

The dentist about a crazy dentist psychopath. You can imagine the damage he does to ppls teeth. If you hate the noise of the dentist drill don't watch!

Flackattack · 27/10/2020 21:23

Sinister was voted top horror in Netflix - pooped my pants!

DownThePlath · 27/10/2020 21:23

Hereditary was fantastic. I've grown up on horror films (bad parent alert! Grin) and nothing really rattles me, but that film really did. Such a good plot too.

Ilovegreentomatoes · 27/10/2020 21:24

@hardyloveit it's meant to be a dark horror comedy but it gave me the creeps especially all the body modifications in it.

Burnthurst187 · 27/10/2020 21:24

Insidious made me jump a few times but I've never been scared by a film. One thing that I found very unsettling though was in the Blair Witch when deep in the woods in the dead of night they hear young children's voices laughing outside the tent

Elsiebear90 · 27/10/2020 21:26

Sinister
The Ring
Paranormal activity 3
The Grudge

Yutes · 27/10/2020 21:28

Depends on what you find scary

Home Invasion - Hush, The Strangers

Supernatural - Paranormal Activity, Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Gruesome - The Collector

Zombie - 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead

Sci-fi- Event Horizon

Foreign Language - Train to Busan

REC. Not the US remake though (Quarantine), has to be the original.

PardonMyFrancais · 27/10/2020 21:30

Agree on the Grudge and the Ring (although only seen the remake).

The Autopsy of Jane Doe had me scared of bells for a good while 😳

BrimFullOfAsher · 27/10/2020 21:30

Event Horizon 😮 Now there is a film I'd forgotten about (eventually)!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/10/2020 21:33

Another vote for Hereditary.
Exorcism 3 has some good creepy bits.
Occulus.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/10/2020 21:37

Gerald's Game!

Holox · 27/10/2020 21:39

The Descent scared the hell out of me! Think that might have been the point I stopped watching horror films, makes me shudder thinking about it!

RonObvious · 27/10/2020 21:40

A tale of two sisters. Really creepy.

DaphneFanshaw · 27/10/2020 21:42

I didn’t find it follows all that scary.
I liked the idea of it though.
I suppose the ring is scary and the first sinister film.
I agree with oculus, it was very confusing and creepy.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 27/10/2020 21:42

Ooo good shout on Emily Rose @Yutes I always forget about that one but is such a good scary film.

The Ring (just the first one) and Conjuring films also very good. The Exorcist freaks me out too.

MashedSweetSpud · 27/10/2020 21:42

Hereditary. Freaked me out.

BadDucks · 27/10/2020 21:44

The haunting of Emily Rose scared the crap out of me.

I’m watching A Quiet Place right now and have to keep pausing!

Ilovemyhairbeingstroked · 27/10/2020 21:44

Sinister - honestly it will stay with you for days after !

Thesepretzelsaremakingmethirst · 27/10/2020 21:46

Martyrs is one film that has stayed with me for years

namechangetheworld · 27/10/2020 21:46

Ooh, I love horror, and will be watching your thread with interest! I watched Climax on Netflix last night and it was really scary. It's about a group of French dancers whose drinks get spiked with LSD and their subsequent decent into madness and violence.

Films that have really shit me up in the past are Sinister, Baskin, Hell House, and Grave Encounters. If you like violence like the Saw films New French Extremity films are great too - Martyrs, Inside, Frontiers, High Tension, and Them are the best ones.

Doyoumind · 27/10/2020 21:50

Definitely the original Japanese Ring, though the remake is fairly scary. I don't think I could sit through the original now. I am too scared in my old age.
