I go first. I avoid 2 people. 1 lives in next road, we went to primary school together [ now both in our early 50's ]...He inherited a few successful businesses off late parents and now wanders the high road with a can of Tenants lager and hanging out at the bookmakers..spending the profits..I always swerve him as he wants to drunken nonsense about people we went to school with....yawn...

Second person is a lady I used to work with about 5 years ago..She has a non stop monologue about her child and how difficult it is being a working mum,she works 2 hours a week doing life coaching,....she doesn't pause and is relentless with the same monologue, same topics...I even leave shops etc if I see her in there...Impossible to get away from her....yet if she is in a rush, she will glance at you and dash off....!!.....

Yes. My hoarder neighbour opposite. You can't tell when she'll turn. I get on with either side neighbours , but mid sentence she'll get a 'look' & things go downhill & you don't know why & she'll retreat , in a bit of a mood.. Their child & partner are lovely though.

One of my neighbours instructed her DH not to speak to me, after i split up with my husband. Apparently i immediately became some sort of prowling scarlet woman, sizing up everyone else's ugly husbands. He says hello if he sees me in the local.shop or on the main road, but wont speak to me at all if she's nearby or looking out of her front windows at me. My DP thinks its hilarious.

I avoid a local man who never changes his clothes and stinks. He has no mental problems and I cannot understand why he behaves like this. I cannot bear to be near him.

Another person is a colossal bore and hangs around waiting to trap people- the only way with this one is near or actual rudeness.

I avoid one neighbour whose daughters were at school with mine. She pins me up against the cauliflowers in Waitrose and wants to cross-examine me about my DDs and tell me about hers. If I try to get away she actually grabs my arm to stop me!

Since covid I find she fails to recognise me with a mask on - result!

@tootiredtothinkofanewname

oooo I wonder if you live near me OP! Does the life coach have twins? If so, I do my best to avoid her too!
No..!...she has a 27 year old son who is always on the verge of being signed up for a first division sports team but never has been....drones on about that also...and also has a 4 year old who she allows to run riot and of course anyone who complains is unreasonable...!!

I avoid our neighbour opposite - she doesn't listen to a word you say other than to prompt some long rambling anecdote about a member of her family I don't know, or some story that seems questionable when you think about it afterwards. All I can think of when I start talking to her is how soon I can get away.

My new NDN! There is just her and a teenage dd, but she is very “full-on” towards me, asking me round, asking personal stuff etc... I have met her a handful of times at most. Somehow I feel uncomfortable and that my movements are watched! I was away for w/end but got stack of W/App msgs asking me where I was as she was missing me😱
Keeps sending flower bouquet messages and telling me I’m beautiful (nope, just middle aged and tired mostly!)
Sadly, due to layout of houses, she can see my comings and goings. On the upside, they are soooo quiet!!

Everyone!

LiveatCityHall · 27/10/2020 19:14

The guy who owns the garage at the back of my house. Apparently his work is exemplary but he doesnt pause for breathe. He also tells the same story every time I see him. His garage is on the route back from the supermarket and I've taken to pretending to take a call when I walk past!
The other is a friend of mine I've known for 30 years. I love him dearly but when he calls me he talks incessantly about himself and his family but asks nothing about me or mine. Its quite hard work!
