Ultimate is Christmas Dinner. But other than that it would probably be a really good homemade Chilli.

Mytimetokillandmaim · 27/10/2020 11:15

Soft boiled eggs with eggy soldier Blush could eat them every day

BiggerBoat1 · 27/10/2020 11:15

Full roast dinner - pork or lamb - with all the trimmings and loads and loads of gravy.
Has to be cooked by someone else obviously.

jennie0412 · 27/10/2020 12:09

@LadyJaye

I lived in Korea for several years and have never lost my taste for gochugang! Sometimes I have it on toast. Grin

My local Chinese supermarket has started selling frozen tteokbokki (cylindrical rice cakes) which is brilliant, as I never quite got the hang of making them.

I brought a kg of gochujang the other week, I use it in all of my noodle sauces Smile

And! I add it to tteobokki too! (Along with lots of cheeseBlush)

A decent veg burger in a brioche bun with chips. I'm easily pleased.

MolotovMocktail · 27/10/2020 12:50

Roast dinner or a lobster roll

caperplips · 27/10/2020 12:57

Lots of love for roast dinners on this thread!
My favourite might be a fillet steak cooked on the BBQ until medium, served with potato gratin, bbq'd asparagus dressed with extra virgin olive oil and salt & pepper, rosemary fries and garlicky, buttery, lemony greens, peppercorn sauce on the side. Bottle of really lovely red to go with it!

MintyCedric · 27/10/2020 12:57

I'm trying to low carb this week so these are some of my favourite (more virtuous) meals:

Tuna nicoise salad made with fresh tuna
Chilli and ginger salmon with stir fried veg and cauli rice
Chilli and lemon tuna or salmon with broccoli and cherry tomato spaghetti (small qty but you could use courgetti if you're feeling really smug!)
Steak with roasted veg (peppers, onions, courgettes, mushrooms and tomatoes) & peppercorn sauce
Chicken baked in piri piri seasoning with corn on the cob, broccoli and roasted tomatoes on the vine (add sweet potato wedges for more substantial meal)
Pork fillet sliced with pear, blue cheese and walnuts on a bed of rocket

Diet aside I would have a huge a Mexican or Chinese pig out with all the trimmings, or an epic roast beef dinner followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard!

Rosebel · 27/10/2020 13:03

My mum makes a fabulous steak and kidney pie which I have tried to recreate and can't. I absolutely love it with buttery mash and veg. Hungry now.

Shoxfordian · 27/10/2020 13:12

My favourite meal is definitely blue steak, chips, proper onion rings accompanied by a good malbec or rioja

OldEvilOwl · 27/10/2020 13:13

Tofu in black bean sauce and salt and pepper chips from the chinese

shitinmyhandsandclap · 27/10/2020 13:31

It would have to be between 2

A lamb roast

or

Grilled octopus with Canarian potatoes and salted tomatoes

caperplips · 27/10/2020 13:40

@mintycedric thanks for posting those meals. I too am trying to low carb / cut down carbs due to horrible weight gain in the past few months.
They're really inspirational thanks!

MintyCedric · 27/10/2020 14:03

@caperplips the two fish recipes are Hairy Bikers/Dieters and the pork is Joe Wicks one...I'd imagine you can Google them.

I've had the latter for lunch the last two days using leftover roast pork.

keeprocking · 27/10/2020 14:11

@tobee

When I was a student and got my grant cheque (remember them?) I would feel rich and often pop to the chippy up the road and get a quarter of rotisserie chicken and chip shop chips and sachets of brown sauce. Grin If people ever ask me what I want to eat it's the first thing that comes to mind still!
A quarter of a rottiserie chicken with chips was our real treat in Germany from the Schnelly, obviously it was frittenmitmayo, friends in from the UK thought that was very odd, chips with no ketchup, this was the early 80s.

Love blue steak or as my late OH called it, mooing.
TheWindowDonkey · 27/10/2020 14:14

Whatever my dp offers to cook. Hes a chef, so its always awsome. 😁

AestheticWitch · 27/10/2020 14:18

One of my faves is jerk chicken, rice and peas and coleslaw with ice cold beer, preferably at a festival in the summer with friends and music. Ahh happy times!

SplitEndsNHairyLegs · 27/10/2020 14:21

Can’t choose just one, but...

Christmas dinner (roast potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding...carb heaven!)

A big selection of Dim Sum, with steamed AND fried dumplings of all descriptions

Jamaican curried chicken, rice & peas, fried plantain, dumpling, coleslaw

My own homemade lasagne (extra cheesy)

My DH’s fried chicken with mash & gravy

MegaBloxRoxx · 27/10/2020 14:22

Oooh, I can't pick one but my favourite home cooked meals are:

Medium rare ribeye steak with chunky chips, onion rings, garlic mushrooms, salad and diane sauce

Cheesy pasta with bacon, mushrooms and chives

Chicken biriyani and garlic naan with a generous dollop of mango chutney

Chicken and chorizo jambalaya

Burger , apple wood smoked cheddar and lettuce in a brioche bun with onion rings

Fajitas (steak, peppers, onion mushrooms in cajun spice with sour cream, salsa, grated cheese and rocket)

Roast rib of beef (done medium rare) with homemade yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes, carrots, spring greens, peppery swede and proper beef gravy

Baked camembert with lovely fresh bread and cured meats

Prawns cooked with garlic in olive oil with lovely fresh bread to dip into the oil

Chicken parmesan with pasta

Tandoori chicken tikka, rice, salad and naan with raita and mango chutney

TroublesomeTrucks · 27/10/2020 14:42

Dynamite drunken beef, a South Asian curry from Keith Floyd’s Far Flung Floyd. Hot, sour and delicious.

Calic0 · 27/10/2020 14:44

Sausages, mash and DH’s amazing red onion gravy.

OR tuna pasta bake - controversial, but a proper taste of childhood for me.

OR - confit duck legs with mash (again).

But I also love fish and cheese and sandwiches of all description and spicy food and...this is just too hard!! Especially since I’m doing 5:2 and today is a fast day... Sad

showmewhatyougot · 27/10/2020 14:52

I love any type of fried chicken, literally would eat it all.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 27/10/2020 15:11
