Fucking starving and on a diet, so please tell me absoloute very favourite meal (or food! It doesn't have to be an actual meal!)

recipes would be appreciated too

OP posts:

Slow cooked lamb shank. Always with mashed potatoes.

Or

A seafood platter.

isthismylifenow · 27/10/2020 04:20

Not at this time of the day though 😊

CareerFuckerUpper · 27/10/2020 04:22

Olives, hummus, different breads, chilli oil(the really spicy one not the sort they have in chain restaurants!) Salsa, crispy things to dip in it(I don't care what but they mustn't break on impact). Stuffed vine leaves and champagne.

Pet8 · 27/10/2020 05:05

Bangers and mash with onion gravy.
Mmm, I think I'll do that for tonight's tea now.

thirstythirsty · 27/10/2020 05:13

Fillet steak cooked blue with chips! I could eat this every day if I had to

LaLaLanded · 27/10/2020 07:39

Chicken wings! Naked fried and spicy, in a Nashville hot sauce. I have this once a week on average, it never gets old. I look like feral while eating it and care not.

Otherwise a really nice steak with a blue cheese sauce and a salad with a tangy dressing on the side.

Or a whole crab with butter garlic sauce. I spent most of the suppers on a trip to Lisbon attempting to finish a whole crab and never quite got there...

All three pair very well with a glass of very dry champagne if anyone’s offering.

lazylinguist · 27/10/2020 07:45

Roast leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary, with roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese or leeks in cheese sauce.

Or lasagne (homemade).

DBML · 27/10/2020 07:49

BBQ ribs; American style mac and cheese; mashed potatoes with skins; beef brisket; cowboy beans; white gravy; buttery corn and a huge wedge of cornbread.
Followed by a tub of Brides Ice-cream (omg).

DBML · 27/10/2020 07:50

I do love poached lobster tails with butter as well though 😋

toomuchtoworryabout · 27/10/2020 08:18

A huge variety of different cheeses, chutneys and freshly baked bread. And a bottle of red wine to wash it down.

DelphineWalsh · 27/10/2020 08:49

Macaroni cheese with bacon and crispy onion bits

toomuchtoworryabout · 27/10/2020 09:10

Oooooh @DelphineWalsh now you’ve thrown a spanner in the works...
I was happy with my humongous plate of cheeses and chutneys and then you go and mention macaroni cheese with BACON and CRISPY ONION BITS.
Please please don’t make me choose.. it’s too hard Grin

LadyJaye · 27/10/2020 09:15

I lived in Korea for several years and have never lost my taste for gochugang! Sometimes I have it on toast. Grin

My local Chinese supermarket has started selling frozen tteokbokki (cylindrical rice cakes) which is brilliant, as I never quite got the hang of making them.

Ellabella989 · 27/10/2020 09:17

A massive cheese burger and fries

PhilSwagielka · 27/10/2020 09:18

My mum’s fish pie. The Co-OP’s smoked salmon linguini. As for foods cooked by me, chickpea and cashew nut tagine or risotto.

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 27/10/2020 09:19

A really good massaman or red thai curry or pho or moules mariniere or duck with hasselback potatoes, asparagus and port sauce or anything with blue cheese.... I'm very indecisive

commandatori · 27/10/2020 09:20

Rare steak with rosemary salted fries, onion rings, and peppercorn sauce. With halloumi fries and sweet chilli dip on the side.
My dad’s full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.
Chicken pad thai.
Cheesy chips with curry sauce

Marmite27 · 27/10/2020 09:20

Roast dinner
Jambalaya
Chicken curry

Can’t choose just one

DaddysGirlforlife · 27/10/2020 09:24

I vote a roast dinner too!
A Christmas one. Roast Turkey (or beef) Roast potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower & Brussels with pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puds. Yummm! Now I want this!

Okbye · 27/10/2020 09:25

My mums Indonesian beef rendang - she purposefully doesn't make it often so when she does we're all very happy!

Also - smoked mackerel, rice and sambal. YUM.

AngelicInnocent · 27/10/2020 09:56

Bangers and mash with a dollop of butter on top of the mash.
Stew and dumplings.
Cottage pie.

It is impossible to narrow it down further than this!

Gobbycop · 27/10/2020 09:59

Spaghetti meatballs

YouBringLightInToADarkPlace · 27/10/2020 10:10

Macaroni cheese and cheap sausages (?).

howmanyroads · 27/10/2020 11:09

Anything my Greek grandmother used to make. Stuffed tomatoes, spaghetti with mince, lentil soup, lemony spinach rice. Her chips were the best I've ever had, shallow fried until perfectly crisp and golden.

Now she's no longer with us I'd say an English roast dinner or fish and chips Grin

Or any Roman pasta dish

God I love food

anniversarywoes · 27/10/2020 11:10

My favourite meal is a bloody good buffet!
