How did you get famous? What for?
I'm incredibly curious and it's been slow tonight Smile

@Zoflorabore Ah, good old babs. What a funny story, I bet you were so shocked when your parents told you!

Oh yes just remembered. One of the dads at my DS football is an ex England cricketer but I wouldn’t have known that if DH wasn’t in to cricket. My niece godfather is also an eX England cricketer (my sis is friends with his wife). Again I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t been told. I went to school with the actor Gian Samarco (Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 - if anyone remembers it). Everyone bullied him at school for it 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was very shocked! I’ve just googled her and apparently she is bisexual which I didn’t know. I’ve not thought about it for years but I think when it happened I would have been 14/15 so no wonder they didn’t tell me Grin

@trappedsincesundaymorn

My niece is married to the cousin of a famous comedian. The cousins are very close so he is often about. He can be a bit arrogant at times but he's ok.

Pleeeeeeease tell me it's not Peter Kay or Lee Evans?! 🙏🏻

A mate’s dad is very famous. She, however, is very down to earth, likes all my cute dog pictures on Facebook and tries very hard to make friends with my horse (who isn’t keen on people other than me, tbh). Her life is extremely different from the rest of us there. Her conversations are hilarious sometimes, she talks about her mates in the industry and can be a little too honest about them!

My brother is pretty well known in the gaming industry, he is signed to one of the biggest esports teams around and has a large teitch following/sub count! He doubles my yearly salary in 1 month, and will often get sponsored to play a game for 2 hours, charging between £4000 to £5000 for 2 hours!

My BIL is a politician in a different country. Not at all famous here in the UK (unless there are a load of secret fans of his countries politics I’ve been unaware of) but very well known there. His tales are enough to make me glad it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever be well-known.

@Secretboringsister

You got one. I am the totally average sister of 2 famous musicians with different bands which have both been famous since the late 80’s. neither is a front man so being recognised is hit and miss. Not crap bands. Glastonbury main stage.

Benefits: free guest list to nearly every show possible. They adore me for being a civilian and not a muso as they refer to other musicians. They often have long breaks so can visit loads.

Detriments:
I lie to pretty much everyone about what they do because many times people will try to use me. Believe it or not they are both pretty shy nice guys who would like to settle down and get married but really have a hard time meeting normal women because the image of these musicians is they are whores and sleep with fans. Nothing could be more wrong. I have to hide I have Spotify from them. I feel pretty boring compared to them.

Ok back to my usual not fake name :)

Are your surnames a colour?

My FiL is extremely well known globally in his field. I work in an associated field. Often, when I meet someone new professionally, the conversation goes something like:

Me - Hello I’m Dr Minnie Mouse
Them - Nice to meet you, any relation to Dr Mickey Mouse (chuckle) ?
Me - Yes, he’s my father in law
Them - Oh wow! I didn’t really mean it? Is he really?
Me - yes really, my husband is his eldest son
Them - goodness! He has such amazing ideas about xxx. I used his book for yyy qualification/sae him at zzz
Me - (silently) he’s a grumpy old man who fixates on inconsequential problems and is addicted to the History Channel.

He reached these dizzy heights by specialising in an area of research that took off into some very practical applications for cleaning dirty water, in a very low cost, low impact manner. His work has big impacts for developing countries where cost is a massive civstraibta, and more developed countries, once environmental impact became an issue. He’s good at his stuff. He wrote a book. It became a standard text. He chaired a couple of international conferences. He published a load of papers, then ended up working on the grey water treatment for a very iconic building. Was featured in the business press as well as the scientific press. Basically, he developed a niche methodology and was very good at communicating it.

I used to meet loads of famous people as I worked in guest relations at a very posh hotel. Most of them were completely unhinged OP.

I'm a famous member of the royal family. I'd like to thank you all for your tax contributions that allow me to never have to do a proper days work in my life, to travel by chauffeur driven car everywhere, to have cooks, chefs, dressers, cleaners, hairdressers, nannies at my beck and call and to have a designer wardrobe to die for.
Can't thank you enough.

I recently bought a Trampoline from the actress who plays Chaz Dingle. She'd bought it for her twins but was too small. The Nanny allowed my daughter to play on their bigger trampoline whilst I dismantled the one we were buying. It's a very nice house!

I've personally been on Dispatches. Have met a few famous people such as Ralf Little, Will Mellor & Sheridan Smith and as I live right next to where Emmerdale is filmed, I've met most of the cast. That's about it for me.

Unless you count the time I woke up as a child to find my Dad (who ran an elite international tour company in the eighties) had brought home the entire Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team and the then Canadian prime minister's sister to our 3 bed semi on his double decker coach which was parked outside 😳😳😳 Confused

No, I didn't believe it either for a long time but my mum still swears that's exactly who they were 🤷🏼‍♀️ They were touring the UK apparently but quite why they ended up in our frankly, shabby little house is beyond me! But that kind of crazy occurrence was typical of my Dad's totally outlandish nature! God rest him

I was thinking that I don’t know anyone famous then remembered my brother is famous in his music genre. 😂 Most people wouldn’t know him - only those who are big fans of the genre, but most people would know of some of his music. My husband and I have him a lift to a gig once and hung around and I found it so bizarre as I had never considered him famous before but fans were coming up to him to chat to him and really excited to be meeting him. I found it eye opening.

@Famousinlove

My boyfriend's friend was on the xfactor live shows way back when it was popular. He's not well known now but stayed friends with a famous person from the show, he seems to be pretty lonely and isolated. I think a lot of them do drugs at home because they can't really do normal things anymore without being hounded every time.

Ooh I want to know Grin

I used to know a man who has won many awards for performance in the theatre. I looked him up out of nosiness and found that he had several active fan clubs logging his every move. His fans posted at length about how wonderful he was. I have a very different impression. I knew him because we had children at the same school and he was on one side of a divisive campaign over the school's future and I was on the other. I have never seen him perform but I gather he's particularly well known for one particular performance. I felt he reverted to that character during his obsessive single-minded campaign.

It was a huge relief when he moved back to his own country.
