How did you get famous? What for?
I'm incredibly curious and it's been slow tonight Smile

@BillywigSting

I'm not famous but a friend of mine is.

He's from a small rural town and he really struggles with the lack of privacy and having to be careful with what he posts on social media in particular. He's actually pretty quiet and introverted irl.

He gets very uncomfortable with some of the 'thirsting' over him too. He's a good looking man but he didn't really know it/acknowledge it until a few years ago.

Dan from Bastille? Any member of Bastille?
Dragonsmother · 28/10/2020 18:14

When I was living in another part of the country I was “well known” for briefly dating an actor. I Moved away. My looks faded. Doubled my weight and no one would ever believe me now 😂!!

Carpedimum · 28/10/2020 18:16

@Hopefullynamechanged935
“Yep, I am. I have written many bestselling novels”

Just in case you are J.K.R, I bloody love you! Not for the books, I mean I love the books, who doesn’t? No, I love you for your strength in adversity, and standing up for what you believe in for women. Thank you! 💪🏼😉

YankeeinKingArthursCourt · 28/10/2020 18:21

My cousin good friends with Hollywood A-lister. We sat behind her at my cousin's wedding, shook her hand (& generally tried to be cool and nonchalant at the reception). My cousin has been "papped" a few times with her. When A-lister comments on my cousin's Instagram, I have to stop myself from replying directly to her ( maybe someday I will work up the nerve).

naptimeismyhappytime · 28/10/2020 18:21

I used to work with an aspiring actor, he made his own IMDb page and listed being Santa in our restaurant on Xmas eve as one of his acting jobs 😂

Terralee · 28/10/2020 18:21

One of my Uncles is very well known in his field & has been on tv quite a lot recently!
He got an MBE for his work.
But you have to be into a certain historical area to know of him...

Earthling1994 · 28/10/2020 18:23

I worked as a professional nanny for 9 years and worked for some very very famous people.
Not a lifestyle I enjoyed being part of to be honest.

My boyfriend is a musician and in a band and records and plays with some pretty famous people

Wiliboan · 28/10/2020 18:23

@Snugglesandsmiles25 That advert gets me every time. She has the most beautiful smile.

MilkshakeandFries · 28/10/2020 18:26

@Hopefullynamechanged935 are you Mo Hayder?

If you are, your stuff is amazing!

ClaireP20 · 28/10/2020 18:28

@jessstan1

I'm not but my son is semi-famous.
Ooh can't we have a clue!
JonHammIsMyJamm · 28/10/2020 18:31

Not famous myself but previously famous-adjacent Grin. My ex FIL ran a talent agency which ex was involved with so there were always lots of very well known faces at family events.

AdriannaP · 28/10/2020 18:32

One of my friends married the younger brother of an A-list actress (British but lives in Hollywood).

I met a few A lister through a past job. Some very nice and charming ones. Amanda Holden was surprisingly nice and she is absolutely stunning in real life. Very skinny, immaculate skin and super groomed. Met her twice in evening gowns.

murteplod · 28/10/2020 18:32

I went to school with someone who is now a very famous musician. Unfortunately I think I was quite mean to him at school. He was a real dork.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 28/10/2020 18:34

All those scoffing at people likening being the local GP/school teacher to fame, I’m pretty sure those posters are being lighthearted and realise that being the vicar’s daughter isn’t akin to being Madonna Grin

PumpkinPie2016 · 28/10/2020 18:35

My son is friends with a little boy in his class whose dad is an actor. He has done quite a lot of prime time tv work.

It always strikes me how incredibly down to earth and 'normal' he (and the family) are. He does the school run when he's about and chats away to all as if he does something as normal as working in a local supermarket.

Realitea · 28/10/2020 18:37

I have a lot of famous friends. 1 is 'A list'. I have dated 2 famous comedians before meeting my soon to be ex DH.
DH was famous but left to try something else that never took off. He spends his life wallowing in self pity now.
I nearly became famous but never made it. It still pisses me off now to be honest and I have a number of jobs just to keep my head above water. Oh well.

Batshittery · 28/10/2020 18:41

@Zoflorabore

My dad has his own wiki page. He’s not “famous” nationally but more locally. He’s been on television a lot since I was a kid and got to meet some v famous people and won several tv “shows”.

Separately, my mum and dad were at a posh hotel in the lakes about 20 years ago and met a couple. She much older than her partner and a famous soap star landlady. They got on great, swooped numbers and stayed in touch for a while. Once she phoned our house and I answered and was giddy with excitement Grin

They met up a few more times and then weren’t mentioned and I asked my mum and dad years later what happened and it turns out that they asked my mum and dad to wife swap God’s honest truth. I was so shocked! ( they said they didn’t and I hope they didnt )

I think I know who this is. She used to spend a lot of time at posh spa hotel (not in the Lakes) and if it's the same person, she was probably after your DM.
Totp · 28/10/2020 18:42

My Dad is well known in local music circles. Quite successful in 60’s /70’s

Recently a song that he wrote 35 years ago went viral, he didn’t know what was going on!! It was a football thing, people setting videos to the song.

@Mumsturn4

One of my children is in a band and quite well known - lots of girls after him but he's still quite oblivious to them.
You must bw so proud! I would be!
Littlecaf · 28/10/2020 18:45

Just remembered my mums best friends son is a super model. I keep seeing him on various high end couture campaigns. He has a striking look. I always think “I used to change your nappy as a baby” Grin

WingingItSince1973 · 28/10/2020 18:48

My husband is renovating a supermodels house and grounds. Then he has to come home to me ha ha. Actually was just debating eating some chocolate while writing this. So no I'm not famous but my husband works for someone who is 🤣

tolerable · 28/10/2020 18:50

tolerable · 28/10/2020 18:51

ih my goodness,that was an ouright lie,but it really tickled me....i probli oughta be doing something houseworkish.

StanfordPines · 28/10/2020 18:52

@JonHammIsMyJamm

Of course no one thinks being well known locally because you have taught in the same school etc means they are famous but it can be like it. Every trip to the supermarket etc will have someone nudging their friend or child to say ‘look it’s Mrs Pines’.
Zoflorabore · 28/10/2020 18:54

Batshittery yep you prob are correct 😉 she’s around 15 years older than my parents and she did take a shine to my mum!

I’ve just remembered another- I was at school with a member of a band called “Space” who were quite well known back in the day, we also lived in the same street.
I believe they have done very well for themselves.
