How did you get famous? What for?
I'm incredibly curious and it's been slow tonight Smile

My other half is a 'mature' model and modelled for a very high profile, high end campaign which ran in Japan about five years ago.

We visited Japan last year and he was LITERALLY followed down the street, approached for selfies etc.

It was quite odd, but he enjoyed it. Grin

StanfordPines · 28/10/2020 16:46

@thisplaceisweird

Bemused by the spelling of 'swap' as 'swop' by two separate posters, where has that come from?
I picked that up in a book a few years ago. Apparently it is an accepted spelling.
AnaViaSalamanca · 28/10/2020 16:54

Neighbour is a famous actress. She is extremely bitchy to people who recognize her though.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/10/2020 17:05

@GirlCrush

i think a lot of 'famous' people on this thread are stretching the truth a little bit.....bet none of us would have a clue if they revealed their names

thats not famous....or even well known. too many egos elbowing for attention and plenty of tenuous connections nobody can verify

BUT i think the sister of Chris Martin MAY be on this thread....somewhere

I wondered that too. I read something that made me think the same. My brother and Chris went to the same school. He’s a really lovely guy. Not at all how you’d imagine.
amusedbush · 28/10/2020 17:07

I worked with Professor John Curtice for a few years - if you follow politics in the news you'll have seen him a million times. He's always floating about on general election night looking increasingly stressed and, as one person once commented, "like he has brushed his hair with a balloon" Grin

ClaireP20 · 28/10/2020 17:08

I'm not famous, but I did snog a famous footballer once and was in the paper. God I wish I'd been naughtier in my 20s..!

ClaireP20 · 28/10/2020 17:13

Brilliant! I've probably seen your privates haha!

Snugglesandsmiles25 · 28/10/2020 17:15

Oh this will be really outing 🤣so will need to change my name again.
Not really famous as much but my daughter filmed with Simon peg and has been the opening at vue cinemas with him for the last 2 years.

SebastianTheCrab · 28/10/2020 17:18

@Mariola212

My friend's dad was in Black Sabbath. Used go round and smoke weed when I was a teenager. 😂 The dad was really nice chilled guy, not crazy rock star at all.

If your friend is Tony Marie tell her I still listen to the band she was in back in the early 2000s. They only put out a few songs but I thought they were brilliant.

BillywigSting · 28/10/2020 17:25

I'm not famous but a friend of mine is.

He's from a small rural town and he really struggles with the lack of privacy and having to be careful with what he posts on social media in particular. He's actually pretty quiet and introverted irl.

He gets very uncomfortable with some of the 'thirsting' over him too. He's a good looking man but he didn't really know it/acknowledge it until a few years ago.

GertieBassett · 28/10/2020 17:33

My claim to fame.. my next door neighbour is from the soft rock 80's band called Thunder...
Ok, ahem.. I'll leave now.. 😂

Pliudev · 28/10/2020 17:37

My dad moved into a house next door to the ex captain of his favourite football team who had played for England many times. Unfortunately, though they became friends, he always changed the subject when my dad brought up the subject of football.

laidbacklife · 28/10/2020 17:39

@peachgreen - just curious but did his name start with S and hers with K by any chance?

Hopefullynamechanged935 · 28/10/2020 17:47

@DryRoastPeanut we are based quite near to each other.

ArsumLardis · 28/10/2020 17:50

My dad has an IMD page too! It's because of a public service job he did (hopes to do again) on a high profile news story, so he appeared in some footage, I guess.

I have had to do tv interviews. They were nerve-wracking. I hate it. I consider this part of my job to be occupational hazard not benefit. Employer tries to applaud us for media work. I want to hide under a rock.

None of that is real "fame" I suppose. I don't understand wanting fame. I view it as an evil byproduct as best. DS went to school with someone who completes internationally in the sport she loves so we see her on tv sometimes; she was not seeking fame for it.

AngelDelightUK · 28/10/2020 17:50

My daughters Dad is a very famous radio DJ. I’m infamous for that Grin

I’ve been on quite a few TV quiz shows. A couple of years ago one was repeated one weekend and on the Monday I was recognised everywhere. It was very strange, I was providing external services at offices at the time and the one I went to on the Monday morning the receptionist shrieked “I know you, you won xxxx” and told everyone that there was someone off the telly down the corridor

jessstan1 · 28/10/2020 17:52

I'm not but my son is semi-famous.

cheninblanc · 28/10/2020 17:56

Gertiebassett I love thunder!! I love danny Bowes. I think they are fab you are so lucky 🤭

StillCoughingandLaughing · 28/10/2020 17:58

My claim to fame.. my next door neighbour is from the soft rock 80's band called Thunder...

Every time he popped over I’d be tempted to sing ‘That’s when love walked in through my door...’ Grin

Sandfairy69 · 28/10/2020 17:58

Not famous at all BUT I was once in a position of ‘imagined’ power! I worked for a private school as an admissions manager and I would have people approach me everywhere I went. I was once in a queue for some roast beef at a brunch and the ladies behind me were loudly broadcasting their children’s attributes as if it was going to have an impact! My friend and I were having such a giggle that I’d hit the ‘fame’ status! Loved that job, did give me a cheap thrill sometimesGrin

GertieBassett · 28/10/2020 18:02

Aww i love them too... its Ben who's my neighbour .. He's such a bloody lovely man. So down to earth and so funny!

FelicisNox · 28/10/2020 18:03

I'm not famous but I've bumped into loads of famous people.

My most recent was Giovanni and Aliajz in SOHO. Had a picture and they were the nicest guys.

Coffeemaniac · 28/10/2020 18:04

I’ve got one of those faces that people think they know! I get asked if I’m famous but I’m not. It’s weird.

GertieBassett · 28/10/2020 18:05

Im crying here 😂.. i dont see Ben as being in a band.. I was into acid house wen Thunder were " big"
Now I'm older and wiser i appreciate how loved they are!!
Thank you
I'll pass on the love 🤣

Mumsturn4 · 28/10/2020 18:06

One of my children is in a band and quite well known - lots of girls after him but he's still quite oblivious to them.
