Bleeding early pregnancy

Hey,

I took multiple pregnancy tests last Monday (early), and they were positive. I then started bleeding 2 days after period was due so went to see the midwife she did a pregnancy test and it was negative and told me clear blue often has false positives? 🤪 I then went home and did a tesco digital one and it also said negative. I then only bled for 2 days, wasn't as heavy as normal, and then it was just spotting for a day. This morning (5 days since bleeding started) I took the other digital tesco test and it came up positive and so did the digital clear blue.

I am really confused, I have no pain, just exhausted and nauseous. Did anyone else have bleeding early pregnancy? Or do you think it could be an early miscarriage and my hcg are still high as a result?

Any advice would be great. 😊

Sadly it is impossible to predict the outcome. People will have experiences both ways. Heartbreakingly my experience wasn’t a positive one but it took 12 weeks to get to that stage.

Aww im so sorry. 😔
I don't think mine will be either. Just don't know when to expect my hcg levels to decrease.

I always thought that you couldn’t have a false positive only a false negative. Depending on how early on you are, it also matters what time you take the test.

Can you go back to the midwife and ask for a scan, they should offer this if you are bleeding.

Sorry that you are experiencing this and I hope that everything goes ok.

I thought this too! I hadn't heard of a false positive.

I stopped bleeding after day 2 and my test is still positive. But I just assumed as it felt like my period that it was a miscarriage.

Mine was a good experience. The week I tested positive I started bleeding. My GP referred me for a scan and the little peanut with a heartbeat was fine.

Aww thats so lovely! :-) how far were you when you started bleeding?

I have experienced bleeding due to a miscarriage and a pregnancy which was successful. It was very different. The bleed during the successful pregnancy was very light and no cramping. Just spotting.

I do think you need to speak to the midwife again to see if they are able to arrange a scan or blood test to say for sure

It was very early on, about 6 / 7 weeks. Like clarinet53, it was fairly light, like the first day of my period. Peanut is 8 years old now. Fingers crossed for you. X
