Fifty shades
Lord of the rings
Pirates of the Caribbean
Dark knight (though I might like these)
Only seen 1 Harry Potter - thanks to dd and didn't like it
Matrix films
Fast and the furious
Stand by me - which is actually odd given my love of 80's films and Stephen king that's a case of just never having got around to it
Blair witch project - I'm a big horror fan but that shaky camera thing gives me a headache when it's been in other films and I have issues with snot
MANY Disney films really not a fan, have watched a few with dd when she was younger under duress/because she wanted to but mainly they're really not my thing at all.
Very few "modern" films - which means anything made this century! I've watched a few but not many and mainly sequels to franchises I'm already familiar with and know I like or they have actors or directors involved I REALLY like and I've seen the trailer and read the précis and am fairly confident I'll like it.
Daft really as with streaming it's SO easy to switch off and watch something else if I don't like it and sometimes I try and remind myself of this and try watching something "new" but most of the time I end up disappointed.
it's a wonderful life is one of my hated films! Had to watch for a uni thing, mind numbingly boring and sickeningly twee! Hated it! Lecturer of that module admitted after we'd seen that he hated it too! But that particular assignment was set by his "boss" and mandatory (boss apparently a big Capra fan!)
BUT I have seen and enjoyed rocky franchise, I LOVE the creed films and really rate Michael b Jordan who I first saw in a VERY small part in lie to me but he really stood out to me even then, I really hope and feel there's an Oscar in his future - he's still a bit young I think for the academy to give him one they tend to be for older actors. I'm also a big superhero film fan though I'm more a DC girl than marvel, though I watch and enjoy marvels too.
Star Wars - big fan BUT I was "raised" on musicals and westerns and Star Wars is basically a western franchise set in space. I used to deny my love of westerns but have to now grudgingly admit that dad would be watching and I'd roll my eyes at first at "yet another western" but end up watching and enjoying. So any westerns fans who haven't seen Star Wars it MIGHT be something you want to consider?
Bond films were the only ones both parents liked, for different reasons. Some are better than others definitely but they're fairly easy to watch and follow and quite entertaining. My favourite is live and let die.
Here's the thing though, I get really annoyed at anyone who is weird with anyone else for their choices on things like this.
I have friends who are hugely into Disney, others massively into Harry Potter, others who are into fast and furious etc
While they are not films I am into I will defend to the hilt their right to enjoy them.
But I DO get annoyed at people (not my friends they tend to know me better) who try and persuade me to watch/do something I'm not interested in to the point of rudeness/bullying.
Let people like what they like!
My Dd and I have VERY Different tastes entertainment wise so when she still lived at home it was really difficult to find something to watch together, but we didn't try and impose our tastes on the other.
All superhero films except for the first Superman excellent film! I still remember watching with mum
And her laughing out loud at
"You've got me? Who's got you?!"
But if you did enjoy it I recommend the 2nd and 3rd films too, not really fussed after those tbh. But gene hackman, Terence stamp, Richard Pryor etc camping it up in those is great fun.
I'm not able to enjoy at the moment (not just covid housebound) the cinema experience but we are lucky here to have a good independent that shows mainstream as well as offbeat films AND is very strict on behaviour! Any nonsense from people being on phones or blethering through films and they're out! They get ONE chance really told to stop the behaviour if they don't they're escorted out. It's great! As a result there's very little bad behaviour AND the snacks aren't stupid sized and are reasonably priced!
But I'm having to enjoy at home at the moment.
Like a pp I'm more of a tv fan, there are some series I missed out on when I was living overseas for a time and I'm getting to catch up on via prime or at the moment west wing on all4
@Deathgrip I'm jealous! I'd love a job like that!
The godfathers I really didn't think I would like, not a gangster movie fan generally speaking but a boyfriends dad was a fan and back when videos were still fairly new and expensive it came on tv one Sunday eve and we sort of "had" to watch and I actually loved it.
A lot of mine that I've not seen are because for me personally the subject matter could be triggering/upsetting.
I had an abusive childhood and addiction is a major factor in that so anything with sexual abuse, mental abuse or glamourising addiction or overly sympathetic to addict or even dealer characters is a major turn off for me. Have no interest in watching anything like that.
I also need to know in advance if pregnancy loss is going to come up I don't like being caught out on that.
Among friends and family some have similar reasons for avoiding certain films, lots of people of course can't cope with violence or gore either in thrillers or horrors which is absolutely good reason not to watch certain films.
