That's aimed at eyeliner manufacturers btw. Pencils, specifically.

Issue 1: Looks like a pencil. You order it, and it turns out to be a non-sharpenable look a like. So why the fuck have you made it really long then, when theres no lead?

Issue 2: There is a lead. There is a pencil. Nice point tip. But when you go to sharpen it, the lead keeps snapping off until you've used half the bastard up by continuously sharpening to get the tip back.

I'm actually considering getting one of those art teacher desk top high tech sharpeners for my eyeliner. Am I doing it wrong or something?!

Put it in the fridge before sharpening it, might hold together better?

Great tip! I'll give that a go tonight. I also remember an indian friend who used to heat the tip of hers up with a lighter, she might have done that for a different reason though because I cant imagine that sharpening it

YANBU. Eyeliner pencils are shit but I cannot seem to master liquid eyeliner no matter how many YouTube tutorials I watch. I need an alternative or they do indeed need to get their shit together!

Which brand are you using? I use Laura Mercier and they never snap or crumble. Plus they come with a pencil sharpener in the box! (I have about eleventy million LM pencil sharpeners as a result ...)

Avon do one with a built in sharpener I think it's quite good. Other than that I alway return to good old rimmel as it doesn't smudge either.

You can get an eye liner thats like a felt tip pen. So liquid, but as easy as a pencil and never needs sharpening. I buy mine from Amazon who evers cheapest at the time but Maybelline etc all do them.
Gamechanger.

I use a gel liner with a brush and set it with black eyeshadow. Or for a less severe look then just black or dark eyeshadow applied with the tip of the brush.

I have a very, very old Rimmel one that is less than a cm in length now because I've had it so long and I cannot find one that's anywhere near as good. As you say, they're either pencils that break at every turn of the sharpener, fakes that aren't actually pencils (and leave a thick blob of a line of eyeliner because it's almost a pencil shaped paste) or my favourite, a pencil with the "lead" so hard it won't actually go onto your skin unless you scrape it over and over until it stings or melt the "lead" a bit which turns into a blob.

Thankfully I've hit my fuckitall age and I only wear make up for nights out or events now so can keep my 1cm stick a while longer.

Soap and Glory one is great. And it has a nifty little sharpener

I quite like the maybelline eyeliner gel that comes in a little pot with a brush. Easy to apply and no panda eyes.
