Free school meals during planned holidays

This issue doesn't affect me at all but it does affect some people I know.

So, there's a lot of talk about the government/local councils/schools providing free school meals during half term and other upcoming holidays for those eligible.

I know people earning just above the allowance for free school meals. Say the allowance is £20 per week per child. One of my friends wouldn't be entitled and would take home less than the non-working person that doesn't.

Is there any way of rectifying this?

No answer to your question but £2.20 per day is the FSM allowance.

Where would you draw the line?

There will always be people just over.

No, they have to draw the line somewhere. We don't qualify for free school meals because we get working families tax credit, although we earn under the threshold. The amount of working tax credit we get is worth less than free school meals would be.
