To want to buy a patio heater?

Husband will not agree to it, he says a waste of money and will not buy the free standing ones as they are not efficient and also break down after a while. I think would be a good addition if we want to hang out with friends at home during Covid. AIBU?

I have a fire pit, they are awesome.
I was dubious about it when we first got it, figured it couldnt possibly work, its outside, all the heat will just dissipate. Nope its great.
Cold frosty evening spent sitting round it chatting and laughing. I can cook on mine too Grin, hotdogs, popcorn, hot toddies. ( you could actually cook like a bbq on it but who wants to do that in the dark but it does work for snacks too )

God no, patio heaters are awful for the environment. Treat yourself to some fluffy electric blankets and an extension lead.

Stilllookingfor · 23/10/2020 22:59

Fire pit great idea! Where can you get one, how big is it or how much space do you need?

You had better hurry up and decide. The UK may follow France's lead and ban them.

Ah electric blankets may be a good one and cheaper too I guess

@Bwlch point taken although I guess there always will be a black market for domestic use.....

Fire pit with sustainably-sourced dry wood (so carbon nuetral and low particulates). Far more sociable than a shitty patio heater.

surprisebabyshower · 23/10/2020 23:07

We've got a chimnea thing too which really gives off a lot of heat. We have a wood store to dry the wood so it's not too smokey.

Most garden centres and the likes of Wickes will have them.
