Yes, what are single parents meant to do?

Is this an independent or chain pharmacy?

Aragog · 23/10/2020 16:01

How old are the children?
Can they serve you from the door as an alternative?

user1492951343 · 23/10/2020 16:02

I went to Lloyds pharmacy yesterday. Me, toddler in the buggy and a 7 year old. Wasn’t an issue. No other customers in there though.

Aquamarine1029 · 23/10/2020 16:02

It's fucking ridiculous and should be illegal. It's discrimination.

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:04

Exactly, just witnessed this, the pharmacy lady was so rude, I offered to the mum that was literally chucked out
Could I watch one of your children for you ?
She asked her older child I’d say about 5/6
And he wouldn’t stay with me, he wanted to stay with his mum
And a before I had to chance to suggest anything else, she left with tears in her eyes

OwlinaTree · 23/10/2020 16:04

That's silly, what difference will it make? They are allowed in other shops. Unless the pharmacy is tiny in which case they could serve you from the open door.

GreyishDays · 23/10/2020 16:04

Did they think they were old enough to be left outside? I can’t really see how they can justify it otherwise, and even that’s borderline.
What did they say?

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2020 16:05

Yup. What's the alternative? Leave one or both children with another adult, almost certainly in closer proximity than anyone else in the pharmacy? Or tie them up outside? (I wouldn't do that to my dog, for avoidance of doubt that I'm being sarcastic)
OwlinaTree · 23/10/2020 16:05

Jobsworth. The poor mum.

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:05

The customer did say they are only children’s And children are not normally counted and the pharmacy woman actually shouted out her they are still people !! But she did it in a really nasty way

It's madness.

Over lockdown i went to the small local shop. My DDs are older (7&9) and could safely wait outside... But was told that children don't count on the limit.

Some people are just jobsworths.

OwlinaTree · 23/10/2020 16:06

I wouldn't leave my children alone outside the pharmacy where I live, it's on a main road. They are 4 and 6.

Toddlerboozerepeat · 23/10/2020 16:06

Shock shame them on Twitter

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:08

Actually feel really guilty for not somehow stepping in more but I was just in shock

That pharmacy lady is actually a right bitch and gives really bad advice and is needlessly aggressive

Last time
I went in there for headrin

She had a right so at me, and told me you don’t need two large bottleS as you only need to put it in the roots, when quite clearly on the box it says all the hair must be saturated

cologne4711 · 23/10/2020 16:08

Completely stupid, but then pharmacists haven't exactly been the heroes of lockdown with their over the top restrictions, telling people a pregnancy test wasn't "essential" and in the case of Boots, taping off aisles (mind you, that's becoming mainstream in Wales as of today).

If it was Lloyds they are a chain, so there is a complaints mechanism. One reason why chains are better than independents which can do what they like without accountability.

As a pp said, they could have offered to serve at shop door if they were really tiny and there was genuinely no room for 3 people plus shop staff.

They're people but they are dependent people. I can't see how any sane person can't comprehend why one rule doesn't fit in the case of children (or adults who require a carer for whatever reason, come to that)
Nanny0gg · 23/10/2020 16:08

Did you say anything to the pharmacist?

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:09

Yes this is near a busy road too, I just feel so bad for the mum, what if she Really poorly or the child is really poorly

OP posts:
Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:09

I think she’s the manager

OP posts:
cologne4711 · 23/10/2020 16:09

Sorry got confused over Lloyds. I guess you could still make a complaint if the woman is always a bitch but it is much more difficult with independents.

Funnyface1 · 23/10/2020 16:12

That is absolute bullshit and I don't really get angry about much. I would report that lady to whoever I could.

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:14

Nanny0gg

Did you say anything to the pharmacist?
No all I did was offer for for me to watch her kids
But they didn’t want to stay with me
Then she was gone
I was actually in shock

It wasn’t just what that lady did it was the Way she did it
Really aggressive and antigonistic

But I’ve experience that lady’s Customer service before and it’s nasty

Plus she actually gives wrong advice
It’s

Awful. I would complain to the manager. I'm not a single parent but I had to take my two with me to the chemist yesterday to get my youngest's prescription.

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:15

I don’t know why she’s so nasty

Guess she must just be a miserable person with a crap life
