Does this seem like madness to you ?

BlueJava · 23/10/2020 16:18

To me this seems very unreasonable - and who is to say the woman has anyone to leave her kids with, plus a pharmacy sells essential stuff! I got shouted at in the local pharmacy the other day - for back tracking a bit on the one way system. However, I didn't it was me they were shouting at so carried on. It was only when I got to the till and she said "Did you hear me?" and I said "Sorry?" that I realised.

Acerred · 23/10/2020 16:22

@Aquamarine1029

It's fucking ridiculous and should be illegal. It's discrimination.
Yes, of course. It's discrimination not to protect as many people as possible from Covid by making sure the pharmacy is not overcrowded. Find a pharmacy which is not as busy or get your meds delivered online.
Gillian1980 · 23/10/2020 16:26

That’s pretty rubbish.

Our pharmacy has an “only 2 customers in at once” rule. But they recently added “OR a parent with their children and no other customers”.

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:27

I really hope she didn’t need a prescription for antibiotics or antidepressants
Because she actually had her eyes full of tears when she walked off Sad

@Lardlizard

Yanbu for yes it’s mad YABU for no it’s sensible
Please do not tell me how to vote. Thank you.
Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:31

A lot of people like that clarified

OP posts:
PatchworkElmer · 23/10/2020 16:31

Our pharmacy has a note on the door saying 2 customers only at a time. So DS and I queue outside until there are no other customers in the shop, as to my mind we count as ‘2 customers’. If I had more children, I would take them all in and assume that as a family bubble, we’d be fine.

CornishTiger · 23/10/2020 16:31

Was it an independent chemist or chain chemist

ilovesooty · 23/10/2020 16:32

@Aquamarine1029

It's fucking ridiculous and should be illegal. It's discrimination.
How is it discrimination from a legal point of view?
Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:32

It’s independent I think, either that it must be a very small chain it’s certainly not boots or Lloyd’s

OP posts:
Mia1415 · 23/10/2020 16:33

This is absolutely ridiculous. Is she a pharmacist? I'm sure their professional body would take a pretty dim view of this! The poor lady could have really needed to either speak to a pharmacist or pick up essential medication. Other medical conditions have not vanished because of covid!

ButtonMoonLoon · 23/10/2020 16:34

Please contact the head office of the company that runs the chemist- this was a horrible way to treat somebody.

I understand that some chemists are small and low on space but for single parents with limited support it’s really hard in situations like this.

AibuTellMe · 23/10/2020 16:35

Please report this lady OP. That poor lady. If someone spoke to me like that I'd shout back but someone like my sister would have cried and that incident would effect her for ages and make her feel shit / more depressed. Feel so bad for the lady.

Gunpowder · 23/10/2020 16:36

Poor woman. The pandemic has brought out the best and worst in people. Some people love to exercise their tiny bit of power.

unmarkedbythat · 23/10/2020 16:38

Wtaf is wrong with us at the moment? 25% of voters so far think this is fine. How is it fine? What is a single parent of more than one child supposed to do?

And @MainliningMarzipan, she's not telling you which way to vote, she's telling you which button means which answer in the post she has made, your comment is utterly inane.

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:39

I’ve just googled it and it’s an independent

OP posts:
GabsAlot · 23/10/2020 16:39

try and get somewhereto report her to she cant do that

failing that social media maybe

Clymene · 23/10/2020 16:40

"Yes, of course. It's discrimination not to protect as many people as possible from Covid by making sure the pharmacy is not overcrowded. Find a pharmacy which is not as busy or get your meds delivered online."

Mumsnet: Making parents lives easier Hmm

ilovesooty · 23/10/2020 16:40

To clarify, it sounds very distressing for the customer but I don't think it's discrimination.

satnighttakeaway · 23/10/2020 16:41

Have you complained to the owners of the shop? That would seem to be the obvious thing to do or speak directly to the assistant herself.

And btw I agree with @MainliningMarzipan no one needs to be instructed on how to vote in a wholly non compulsory feature

LittleDoritt · 23/10/2020 16:42

Please report her to try and protect the next poor soul who comes along.

Al1langdownthecleghole · 23/10/2020 16:43

Even if independent you can still contact your local CCG who they will contract with. There will be a post like director of primary care to direct your concerns to.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 23/10/2020 16:44

I would complain, and if she is the manager, complain to whoever is above her.

Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:45

AibuTellMe That’s exactly it, if she’s really poorly or someone she lives with is how horrible, I can’t stop thinking about her, I feel really guilty at witnessing that, sometimes these things happen so fast, another lady who had just left and witnessed it too, also said bad how awful that lady is
It could really be damaging for some people

Plus what do you think to that fact she gives incorrect advice like for example the headline treatment
Telling me to put it on the roots only
I just let that one go as I knew that was not the case and the quick look at the bottle confirms it
But she clearly is nasty and gives out bad and wrong advice

OP posts:
Lardlizard · 23/10/2020 16:46

She’s not the pharmacist because he’s actually nice
She’s just the manager
