To wonder what the least used Mumsnet Talk topic is

So many topics yet I see the same 10 appear in the Active view.

I wonder what the least used one is. I also wonder if I'm missing some absolute gems.

I'd be interested in seeing stats on this!

Geppili · 22/10/2020 00:12

Are you using the App? I get lots more active threads than that in App?

PickAChew · 22/10/2020 00:13

Some topics don't appear in. Active.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2020 00:22

My guess is that - apart from most of the Local ones - the least used are the special sports events ones (Wimbledon, World Cup.)
There are also some niche topics such as The Stationary Cupboard.

Wait a mo... there appears to still be the Mumsnet Nicknames Auction thread, which was last posted on in 2011, all the other posts from when this event took place in 2007. Surely that must win?

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 22/10/2020 01:14

I'm not surprised the Stationary Cupboard is slow...

Thought I'd have a look, and now you've alerted me to the existence of a Stationery cupboard topic.....

Omg just got that, brilliant

Geppili · 22/10/2020 02:18

Omg there are so many topics I didn't know about in Other Stuff! Pedants' Corner, Cunning Linguists, the unexplained, Weather AND I finally worked out where AIBU is!

northernstarsoutherncross · 22/10/2020 02:22

One of the funniest threads I ever read is in the unexplained. Someone found a mysterious symbol written on their floor and was looking for help deciphering it. An eagle eyed reader pointed out it said 2 sausages and mash (or similar!) backwards.

Was it? Was it her colleague's handwriting? I have to know!

The sausage and mash thread is so funny and sweet!

BexR · 22/10/2020 07:49

Haha sausage writing is hilarious!

Off to investigate nickname auction...

No just browser, I don't get on well with the app

I found that the "support for those looking after people with life limiting conditions" was tumbleweed city.
Particularly distressing when I was in need of help and waited over three weeks for a response!

That's a shame - part of the problem with boards which people don't know about and which are unlikely to get into active convos. There used to be a thing where stalwart members would do a search for posts which hadn't had any answers and if it was someone needing help reply, or get someone else with relevant experience to do so.

What I'm puzzled by now is how this was done - I may be misremembering but I thought there used to be an easy way to find unanswered threads but I can't see what it was now.
Maybe MNHQ should actively monitor support boards to check posts aren't languishing unseen.

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 22/10/2020 12:24

I remember this too. I feel like there used to be a link at the top of the page, alongside Active/Threads I'm On/Threads I Started/ etc.

Could we have something like this @MNHQ? It might be a good way to get some of the subforums more active again and reverse the trend for everyone to post everything in Chat and AIBU 'for traffic'.

Geppili · 22/10/2020 12:52

That is such a good idea.

Geppili · 22/10/2020 12:53

Call call them dangling threads

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2020 13:03

I've reported one of these posts to ask MNHQ about it (I'm pretty sure that doing @MNHQ doesn't actually alert anyone even though most posters think it does)

Geppili · 22/10/2020 13:50

God job!

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 22/10/2020 15:47

Oh sorry, my bad, I thought it would get flagged up. Thanks @ErrolTheDragon.
