encourage earthquakes whilst on live TV. First Jacinda Ardern and now Katrín Jakobsdóttir. Just what are these women creating here? Which country is next?

OP posts:
TicTacTwo · 21/10/2020 12:17

Did Johnson summon the 3 earthquakes felt in Leighton Buzzard recently ?

TicTacTwo · 21/10/2020 12:20

I don't know how often earthquakes happen in NZ but I've lived in Japan where it's perfectly common place for small tremors to happen and people just continue doing what they were doing.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 21/10/2020 12:22

I have trouble laughing at a joke when the misogyny is more obvious than the joke.

Mumsnet doesnt tend to like misogyny

Bid876 · 21/10/2020 12:24

So 2 female prime minister kept their cool and didn’t panic during what would be an everyday occurrence in their countries and what???

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/10/2020 12:25

To quote Mowgli from the Jungle Book.
“Gee Baloo. I don’t even know what you’re talking about”Grin

LoseLooseLucy · 21/10/2020 12:26

I didn’t get the OP at first, but now I know the context I get the joke.

I’m not seeing the misogyny 🤔

RamblingFar · 21/10/2020 12:29

I got the joke.

I think perhaps it was just that both were fairly minor news stories, and so people didn't think of them when they read it at first.

MillicentMartha · 21/10/2020 12:30

Well I thought it was funny! But I had already seen the video with the Icelandic PM.

fruitbrewhaha · 21/10/2020 12:31

I am brunette and can summon an earthquake, maybe I should be Prime Minister

AFlockOfKnots · 21/10/2020 12:32

@fruitbrewhaha

Presidents count. Get yourself over to California there's a vacancy coming up. Oh, and age doesn't matter either.

AFlockOfKnots

I'm on my way.

cornbread · 21/10/2020 12:35

Grin OP - shurely no coincidence??

And the replies here are the icing on the cake 😂

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/10/2020 12:43

YANBU OP, it's very irresponsible for for these women to be encouraging earthquakes at the moment. FFS, theres a global pandemic on.😷🤷‍♀️

TheEmpressOfUtterBastardry · 21/10/2020 12:59

What are you talking about OP?

Who uses the word 'brunette' anymore anyway? it's so gendered and shite.

Juniperandrage · 21/10/2020 12:59

Where is the misogyny?

diddl · 21/10/2020 12:59

I've been known to make the earth moveWink

Chemenger · 21/10/2020 13:01

@cologne4711

I often find myself at odds with MNers, but this is just weird. Both the (brunette) PM's of New Zealand and Iceland have been on live broadcasts when an earthquake has happened. I didn't know that but all became clear when I clicked the links to see the interviews concerned.

I am not sure why the OP's post was considered to be so stupid/offensive/whatever. Lockdown madness getting to some of you?

I agree the Danish and Finnish prime ministers might struggle to repeat the feat - Theresa May might have managed it if she'd still been PM, and in Leighton Buzzard, a few weeks ago.

This. I have no idea why so many people flew off the handle.
BillywilliamV · 21/10/2020 13:09

You see, didn’t spot any mysogeny, but got the joke at once!

Everyone is so bloody touchy at the moment!

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 21/10/2020 13:10

I...um...don't get the joke...

SoupDragon · 21/10/2020 13:12

I have no idea why so many people flew off the handle.

No one "flew off the handle"

PhilSwagielka · 21/10/2020 13:14

Maybe Johnson should wear a bikini on TV.

Radiatornoise · 21/10/2020 13:19

This is the closest I could get to Boris in a bikini.

Leaannb · 21/10/2020 13:25

@NewLevelsOfTiredness

I live in Denmark but given the lack of tectonic boundaries here I'd be very impressed if Mette Frederiksen managed to conjure an earthquake up.

If she does you're definitely on to something!

Denmark had an earthquake registering 3.4 on September 30, 2020
AFlockOfKnots · 21/10/2020 13:26

Then it must be Witchcraft.!

Envy Envy That picture ...

Can you imagine the press if anyone representing the Labour party was pictured looking like that? Angry.
