encourage earthquakes whilst on live TV. First Jacinda Ardern and now Katrín Jakobsdóttir. Just what are these women creating here? Which country is next?

Even a joke has to make sense!

IhateBoswell · 21/10/2020 11:39

Both Prime Ministers have been live on air in the last half a year when an earthquake struck mid way through.

The OP is putting a lighthearted spin on the coincidence of this.

Aah just read this, it does make more sense then.
I didn’t realise it was two different PMs.

FoxBaseBeta · 21/10/2020 11:42

Weird bunch of responses to a joke thread!

@Juniperandrage

...I think this was a joke but everybody carry on getting outraged over nothing.
Exactly. Holy fuck some Mumsnetters really have anger issues.

😂 in my defence I’m exhausted. Apologies to OP for not reading the thread properly.

Cabinfever10 · 21/10/2020 11:53

Its really not funny though

Facelikearustytractor · 21/10/2020 11:54

When I first read this I thought you needed to see the doctor or you had some drug induced psychosis.

AFlockOfKnots · 21/10/2020 11:56

Meant to be light hearted, perhaps I am on the wrong website.

Smile

Or maybe just the wrong day.

You can’t get into fights with that username. We all know exactly how to wind you up. Grin
underneaththeash · 21/10/2020 12:00

I don't get the joke either - what has being a brunette or female have to do with it?

RedToothBrush · 21/10/2020 12:00

There was a big earthquake in Iceland yesterday. Katrín Jakobsdóttir is the Iceland PM.

Radiatornoise · 21/10/2020 12:01

I found it funny OP.

Juniperandrage · 21/10/2020 12:02

Both the Icelandic and the New Zeeland prime ministers, who are brunettes, were doing tv interviews that were interrupted by earthquakes

RedToothBrush · 21/10/2020 12:02

Both Katrín Jakobsdóttir and Jacinda Ardern were on tv when earthquakes struck their country and their reaction was caught on camera.

Haha! I really need to change it, it certainly does wind me up when I think about it Grin

cologne4711 · 21/10/2020 12:06

I often find myself at odds with MNers, but this is just weird. Both the (brunette) PM's of New Zealand and Iceland have been on live broadcasts when an earthquake has happened. I didn't know that but all became clear when I clicked the links to see the interviews concerned.

I am not sure why the OP's post was considered to be so stupid/offensive/whatever. Lockdown madness getting to some of you?

I agree the Danish and Finnish prime ministers might struggle to repeat the feat - Theresa May might have managed it if she'd still been PM, and in Leighton Buzzard, a few weeks ago.

Yeah. I’m trying to tease you without properly thinking about it myself. Tricky. Grin
Mypathtriedtokillme · 21/10/2020 12:10

Well you should be saying your prayers that neither start is conjuring up Volcanic eruptions! (Earthquakes are continuous in active volcanic islands)

Last time I was at mums (NZ) we all just sat on the couch during a earthquake and DH stood in the doorway panicking. (It was just bc a small one) but they are regular and just a normal thing.
Until you get a huge one.

NeedToKnow101 · 21/10/2020 12:12

I think if it was 3 or more female brown-haired PMs, it could work, but 2 isn't enough of a coincidence for it to be funny.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 21/10/2020 12:12

NZ has on average 14-15,000 earthquakes a year but only 200-250 are actually shallow or big enough to feel

NKFell · 21/10/2020 12:13

I found it funny @AFlockOfKnots! Grin

I also found it funny that the way some MNer's respond to not getting something with anger Grin

RedToothBrush · 21/10/2020 12:14

Wrong day more than anything I suspect, but it helps to know the story without having to click on a link.

Its funny if you understand the story and the context. TBF I knew there had been a big earthquake in Iceland yesterday and whilst I didn't know the Icelandic pm's name having a surname ending in 'dottir' almost always points to the woman being Icelandic, so I did get it straight away.

So I guess it might be a particular niche joke anyway.

I needed something to put a bit a smile on my face.

@NKFell

Yes strange times. People also have different senses of humour of course. I was expecting at least one comment along the lines of "Well a powerful woman can make the earth move", but these are strange times.
