My children's school has decided to close for 2 weeks from tomorrow, because they are 9 people who have tested positive for Covid. Staff and pupils, my DS is in year 3, one of his classmate has tested positive and the class was sent home on Monday. So my DS has to self isolate because of his class mate? Does that mean none in our household can go out? I have two other children in reception and year 2.

I hope it makes sense.

Only the close contact has to isolate

If an individual has been identified as a close contact, they have to self isolate. Their family does not unless the individual develops symptoms.

There’s about 100 threads on this. Your child in the class with confirmed covid needs to isolate... The rest of you don’t
If said child then gets symptoms you all have to.
