Any miracle verruca solutions?

My dd has a quite a large verruca on her foot, we were told for a few years it would go away on its own but after around 4 years it’s just got bigger and more painful. She struggles walking on it for long periods of time especially when she is at work as she’s on her feet the whole time. She is always trying to walk on the side of her foot to avoid pressure on the verruca as it’s painful. We did speak to a pharmacist in who had a quick look at it and said that she doesn’t think any treatment will work only minor surgery due to how bad it is and the fact that nothing else has worked. We’ve tried duct tape which ended up giving her really red irritated skin, we tried different over the counter verruca products, filing it down every day, I’ve even been at it with a Stanley knife Confused. Are there any miracle solutions any of you have used that you’d be willing to share? It’s so painful and she really wants to get rid of it Smile

Soak cotton wool in cider apple vinegar and fasten to verruca overnight. Worked a treat for us.

TeapotCollection · 20/10/2020 12:08

I was going to say Stanley knife but I see you’ve already tried that

I’ve seen it said on here before that covering it in nail polish to ‘starve’ it sometimes works

Go to a private foot clinic. The best way to get it sorted. Expensive but worth it. (Ours offered a couple of different treatment options. By the way it was the second clinic I went to as the first just told me to feed my son smoothy and improve his diet. There was nothing wrong with his diet.)

Have you posted in sporner corner? They'll have lots of ideas. They might want a photo in return though.

Fwiw, I exfoliated mine down after a bath and then went at the remaining specks/seeds with tweezers. I picked it clean; didn't stop until there weren't any speckles left.

PlaiceonEarth · 20/10/2020 12:11

I had a big one I've only just got rid of after 8 fucking years. It took about 3 months of scholl verucca pen and filing it down every day.

rooty123 · 20/10/2020 12:18

Have you tried banana skin?

DragonflyInn · 20/10/2020 12:26

Nail polish worked on my dd but it did take a few weeks.

I had one for 10 years. Huge thing in the middle of the ball of my foot, which all of a sudden after many years went crazy and loads of new ones sprang up around it. I called my gp about it (after 9 years of pain with it) and they eventually agreed to take a look (after twice telling me they don't treat verrucas but leave them to go of their own accord). Nurse took one look at my foot and referred me to a specialist. I was having it frozen every few weeks over about 5/6 months, but they also told me to treat it aggressively- prescibed treatment on several times a day and as much filing / cutting away as I could bear. One day I noticed it seemed to be getting worse and it was unbearable to walk on for a few days and starting to look infected, then about a week later it was considerably better and all of the others were healing up too. About 3 weeks later they had all gone and it was like I had been given a new foot (!). I think the combination of freezing, treating and constant filing / cutting away at it finally worked but it needed about 6 months of persistance as it was a large and fairly deep verruca

Try taking a herb called Thuja. You can buy on Amazon. It's the only thing that worked for me after years.

Graffitiqueen · 20/10/2020 12:29

DD had an enormous verruca on her foot. Duct tape worked really quickly. I was amazed!

BluebellsGreenbells · 20/10/2020 12:30

Have you tried the varucca plasters? They have poison in them to kill them off - try amazon

Jany3200 · 20/10/2020 12:31

@Tinygem I’ll that one a try, did you file it down too or just replace the cotton wool each night?

Go to a chiropodist and get it dry needled. Cost me £50 and was gone quickly.

Jany3200 · 20/10/2020 12:34

@dancinfeet gosh I thought 4 years was a long time I didn’t realise you could have them for 10 years! Maybe another trip to the doctors would be helpful the first time we went they said it was a corn and referred us to the podiatrist who then told us it was a verruca and there was nothing they could do Hmm

My DD (10) has had loads on both of her feet for around a year. Couple of larger ones and the rest small. We tried everything you could possibly buy in shops and nothing worked.

Ended up taking her to a clinic a couple of weeks ago and they froze them. There seems to be some improvement, although the lady who did it said she may need to go again to have another session on one of the bigger ones

IDrinkFromTheKegOfGlory · 20/10/2020 12:37

I'd definitely echo the advice to try apple cider vinegar.

My DD12 had two large, unsightly, painful warts (one on her hand and one on her foot) and after we'd spent weeks diligently treating them with proper wart cream and filing them there was no discernible difference. Then a friend recommended apple cider vinegar which we put on the warts with a little cotton wool and covered it in a plaster and left overnight. The next morning you could already see a difference and less than a week later (doing the same every night before bedtime - take the plaster off the next morning) they'd literally disappeared. I would seriously say that is a miracle treatment!

IDrinkFromTheKegOfGlory · 20/10/2020 12:38

Btw I found apple cider vinegar in Morrison's so it's readily available.

AriettyHomily · 20/10/2020 12:40

Mine took 11 years to go, it eventually just fell off. I did everything to that fucker.

Toadstool93 · 20/10/2020 12:40

At night File after soaking, completely dry and then paint clear nail varnish all over it before bed. Got rid of my daughters massive one in about 2 weeks.

HMBB · 20/10/2020 12:40

Gaffa tape for a few days, then long bath and attacking with a hard skin file helped my daughters massively. Did this a couple of times then used tweezer to get out the remains.

Good luck

MaskingForIt · 20/10/2020 12:40

Paint it with clear nail varnish wait a day or so, then carve it off with the Stanley knife. Repaint with clear nail varnish, wait a day or so... etc. You do have to be quite brutal, but it worked for mine.

Choconuts · 20/10/2020 12:44

Using the fancy compeed padded blister plasters worked for me. I had to keep replacing it every few days but eventually when I took a plaster off the veruca came with it. I think starving it of oxygen must have helped - I only started using the plasters as it was so painful walking on it.

Tryingtogetitright · 20/10/2020 12:45

My six year old had two. We were told to try zinc supplements - within a couple of months the verrucas turned black, then we started putting zinc oxide tape on top only taking it off for baths. One day the verrucas just popped off on the tape. Totally pain free but took about 5 months in total. Good luck!

Andromache77 · 20/10/2020 12:46

What's wrong with surgery? I had it as a child for a largish one and even then I didn't think it was a big deal, it was done under local anesthesia. The anesthetic injections really hurt, but the rest was fine. On the other hand, I didn't have to worry about not being able to put weight on that foot for a few days, which I admit is not ideal for someone at work.

I did get another one years later, I'm guessing from the swimming pool, but this time I caught it small and a combination of acid drops, Scholl's or something similar, plus filing every night, did away with it in a few weeks.

Now I'm just really careful about wearing slippers everywhere.

Rainyrain · 20/10/2020 12:47

Drs etc don’t like to do anything to them, they say your body will eventually recognise that it shouldn’t be there and it will just disappear.
I had a huge one and many others about 12 years ago, tried EVERYTHING to get rid of them. They were awful and so painful. I went to the drs countless times. Nothing helped even a tiny bit but one day they simply weren’t there anymore. They just went, literally overnight
