Any miracle verruca solutions?

My dd has a quite a large verruca on her foot, we were told for a few years it would go away on its own but after around 4 years it’s just got bigger and more painful. She struggles walking on it for long periods of time especially when she is at work as she’s on her feet the whole time. She is always trying to walk on the side of her foot to avoid pressure on the verruca as it’s painful. We did speak to a pharmacist in who had a quick look at it and said that she doesn’t think any treatment will work only minor surgery due to how bad it is and the fact that nothing else has worked. We’ve tried duct tape which ended up giving her really red irritated skin, we tried different over the counter verruca products, filing it down every day, I’ve even been at it with a Stanley knife Confused. Are there any miracle solutions any of you have used that you’d be willing to share? It’s so painful and she really wants to get rid of it Smile

You need to make it bleed, my podiatrist gave me some acid for mine, it was cheap. Just file until you draw blood then a drop of the acid. I'd had mine for about 2 years and it was gone in a week of doing that once a day.

I have had a verruca on and off for about 20 years in the same place and have tried most things. When it got sore to walk on I used to cut it out and that would give relief for a few weeks. You also get verruca plasters which are donut shaped to take some of the pressure off it.
It always goes away when I'm on holiday, I assume due to the salt water and sand although it always comes back a year or so later. Interestingly I've heard other people say the same thing so I wonder if constant filing and salt water soaks would help.
My mum recently got rid of one in a few weeks that she had had for years by putting super glue on it covered by a plaster. She said that every time she changed the plaster it would pull a bit more off with it. I've been meaning to try it myself. Good luck!

Patience and persistence is required. Soak affected foot every night in warm water, dry it, file verruca with a pumice stone, apply verruca treatment and cover with a plaster. Also put a sock on in bed to keep the plasters in place. We did that for my 6 year old and it took a couple of months for all 5 of hers to disappear.

Small piece of banana skin taped to the verruca each night for around four weeks. Within days it should turn black, and you just keep going until it dies completely.

I've found the best thing is to use freezing spray & when it's numb cut as much out as possible give it another freeze & do that everyday.

Don't file it as I think that spreads it just cut it out & freeze it!

@Andromache77 unfortunately they don’t seem to offer the surgery on the nhs anymore where I live so it would mean going private, sorry I should have said that in my original post. Acid drops sound interesting though I will look into them

Duct tape! I had a stubborn veruca for years. It survived hime treatments and GP treatments and never budged. A new GP recommended covering it in Duct Tape and it disappeared in a week!

Tinygem · 20/10/2020 13:03

@ jany3200 Didn't file, just popped the cotton wool on. It really was like a miracle cure, would definitely give it a try.

cannaethink · 20/10/2020 13:04

I treated my DSs verruca with nail varnish and black tape. It took a few weeks but worked. My other DS had one which disappeared itself, was barely there a week!
I had 4 on my own feet, one of which had been there for so many years I lost count. It was really big and right on the ball of my foot too. I tried various treatments over the years, a bit half heartedly though! Then one day I noticed they’d all gone! I read that your body needs to notice the ‘queen’ verruca then they’ll all go. I wish I knew what had finally alerted my body to it!!

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 20/10/2020 13:18

Have you tried Occlusal? Only thing that worked on mine, after 5 years it cleared them up in weeks! Was prescribed by the GP but I think you can get it online.

cataline · 20/10/2020 13:35

Soak a small cotton wool ball in apple cider vinegar and tape over the verruca every night- make sure the tape makes a seal all the way around though.

After a few nights, the skin should start to die away and you'll be able to pull at it with tweezers.

Keep going with the acv every night and eventually (I think it took 3 weeks for DS's verruca) you'll expose the roots and be able to pull them out with tweezers. You might be surprised how deep they go!

Do things to boost immune system and then irritate it.

No really - so get some vitamins maybe change what you are eating to include more ginger, tumeric, garlic etc. Then keep filing and sanding.

I had one for about 10 yrs and I changed habits going into lockdown (to boost a knackered immune system in current climate) and one day I was busy sanding and 2 days later gone

DD had a massive one on her foot for ages, tried everything but couldn’t get rid of it. As soon as the Scholl pen came out I bought it and it fell off in a week or so. It was a monster one too. She was so happy cos it was making her embarrassed about taking her socks off at gymnastics and school.

Orangesandlemons82 · 20/10/2020 13:40

My son had a huge painful verruca that wouldn't go. Applied nail polish every night and it was gone in 3-4 weeks. Was amazed when it actually worked!

Bettina500 · 20/10/2020 13:45

Nail polish treated my DD's verruca too. It literally shrivelled up after a few days, every night I trimmed away the dead skin and old nail varnish with cuticle clippers, and what was left turned black and was gone within 3 weeks.
Previous to that Bazuka and verruca plasters had done nothing but turn it white and make it grow bigger.

Albgo · 20/10/2020 13:53

My feet were covered in them as a teenager. One or two were big, deep and painful.
The only thing that worked for me (after years of trying everything) - I sat in the bath for hours and cut them out. It was awful, but the buggers never came back.

Aweebawbee · 20/10/2020 13:53

My brother had success with a soldering iron. Not sure that i would recommend it for everyone, but his massive outcrop came off in chunks.

BlackberryCitron · 20/10/2020 13:57

Silver nitrate!

Metalhead · 20/10/2020 13:57

How old is your DD? If old enough to have salycilic acid treatment, the Scholl plasters got rid of one verruca I’d had for decades!

StuckInTheMiddleWithTwo · 20/10/2020 14:00

GP. I told them I'd already tried the OTC stuff (bazuka, bazuka extra strength, liquid nitrogen, sandpaper, a knife...) and they prescribed something hideous that I had to use a corn plaster with because it wasn't allowed to touch the surrounding skin. Worked a charm and I was annoyed at myself for waiting seven years to get it looked at properly.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 20/10/2020 14:02

Has she had her HPV vaccine yet? My DDs feet were covered in them, for years, we tried so many things, so many times, unsuccessfully. Then days after her HPV vaccine and they’d miraculously just disappeared. Anecdotal obviously, but sure it had something to do with it, even if only because it kicked her immune system in to recognising the virus....

blubberball · 20/10/2020 14:03

Reading with interest. I've seriously had one since 2005, and it does my head in. Others came and went, but this one never goes. Might try the nail varnish next.

redferrari · 20/10/2020 15:00

Banana peel with sticky tape worked wonders for my son.

bestbefore · 20/10/2020 15:14

Just go to a good chiropodist, good grief I would have gone right at the start...they can work miracles..

EmeraldShamrock · 20/10/2020 16:34

I think I have the answer but won't be sure for a few weeks.
I use peroxide on it each night with tinfoil wrap around my big toe. it's on my toe I have had it professionally frozen off twice it returned at the moment it is flat it looks like it is nearly gone.
