AIBU not to want the house to be too hot

DP feels the cold and keeps turning the heating on making it unbearably hot for everyone else. This evening he was eating his dinner in a woolly hat a puffa jacket saying he was cold. He wouldn’t believe DD and I that it really was not. I brought the thermometer in from the garden - it was 25 degrees in the kitchen. Surely it’s him and not us

Do you not have a thermostat? Set it to 21 - which is slightly higher than the generally recommended level - and let it turn the heating on when necessary.

Apart from that, get your husband to move around more.

lifestooshort123 · 19/10/2020 20:34

Is it worth him having a check up? Could have an underactive thyroid or be a bit anaemic.

Merryoldgoat · 19/10/2020 20:35

I’d see the doctor at that extreme - 25 is very very warm so I’d worry something wasn’t right.

ExclamationPerfume · 19/10/2020 20:36

I would be baking at that temperature. I can't stand it too hot. Tell him to wear a vest!

BillywilliamV · 19/10/2020 20:37

My DH is cold, but he has tested positive for Covid-19 ...

IronLawOfGeometricProgression · 19/10/2020 20:40

I'd get him checked out rather than be unkind to him. He can't do more than wear a coat and hat indoors can he?

Jericoo · 19/10/2020 20:57

YANBU! A waste of money and makes it stuffy for everyone else

Brefugee · 19/10/2020 21:01

I'd get him checked out rather than be unkind to him.

I'd tell him to get to a doctor and get checked out. 25° is unreasonable anyway and if he's wearing outdoor winter clothes there is something wrong

pinkphone · 19/10/2020 21:03

I was all set to say YABU as I like a warm house. But 25deg in a woolly hat and puffa jacket?! Is he always the same or is he coming down with something?

Terrace58 · 19/10/2020 21:10

25 I side my house would send me into a rage.

Beaverdam100 · 19/10/2020 21:11

Hmmm iI live a warm house and my heating is on all year but 25 with a puffa and warm hat is a bit much. Has he always been like this? I was brought up in a hot house and cannot bare anything under 25.

Changedmynameagain1 · 19/10/2020 21:13

Oh I hear you I hate that artificial heat that heating gives off.
It’s so stuffing and warm and horrible!!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 19/10/2020 22:13

My heating was set at 18.5 tonight and i was lovely and warm...i'd be fainting if my house was 25...and how can anyone have heating on all year round??

Nottherealslimshady · 19/10/2020 22:26

Ours is at 21 and I'm still in a jumper, thick socks and wrapped in a blanket. My feet are still frozen.
What are you and DD wearing? It's not like he's wearing shorts and a vest, he's wearing a coat and hat inside. He's obviously cold. Is he particularly underweight? I'd get him to the doctors, but I wouldn't make him be cold, being cold is so much worse than being hot

Nottherealslimshady · 19/10/2020 22:30

Actually Have you felt him? I'm actually cold to the touch. But when I get ill I feel absolutely freezing cold, but I'm hot to the touch. If he is actually hot to the touch then he needs to get out of the coat and hat. Either way, if he's cold to the touch at 25 then he needs to go to the doctors, could be low blood pressure maybe or a bunch of things. If he's hot to the touch and feels cold, then he needs a doctor, could be an infection maybe.. or any manner of things.

Toothsil · 19/10/2020 22:31

My DH always wants the heating on and complains of being cold but won't wear a jumper 🙄
