To not want people putting their dog s*** in my bin?

Genuinely don’t know if I’m BU or not here. Basically the last few times I have had my black bin emptied someone has put their dog crap in my bin after it’s been emptied. It is in a little bag and they have used the bin lid to keep it at the top. AIBU to think they should take it home and put it in their own bin? I personally don’t want to handle someone else’s dog crap and I certainly don’t want it in my bin for the next two weeks until the next collection. AIBU?

YANBU its your bin and you're entitled to dislike it and not want it. You could get a bin lock?

I have a dog and wouldn't do this, I won't even put it in the likes of McD's or Asda's bins which I frequently walk past, however if someone used mine I wouldn't care, I'd rather that than stand in it, or worse my dog eat it, barfs

It might be sealed in a bag when it goes in the bin, but after being underneath two weeks worth of rubbish it won’t still be in the bag. You try sorting that sticking mess out!

@Keepingthingsinteresting

I have lots of dog walkers past the front of my house - CCTV picked up the same person 3 times- she’s a bitch. I got a gravity lock- took 20 mins with a drill to fix. Annoying but definitely worth it.
Please tell me that you caught her next time on CCTV trying to open the locked bin. I personally wouldn't like it but it is clear that some people aren't bothered so I would start by putting a note on and if that fails then a gravity lock.

We live opposite a footpath that leads to a park very popular for walking dogs. We had to move our rubbish bin because so many people were coming out and putting their doggy bags in our bin. It’s only emptied every other week, the smell in summer was horrendous.

@Mydogisagentleman

I’ve used other people’s bins for my double bagged tiny turds. I’ve also left one in the back of my car for a couple of days when I knew there wasn’t a poo bin. It was rank. Sunshine+ dog droppings = a vom inducing stink
So it’s not ok for your car to stink of your dog’s shit, but it is ok for someone else’s bin to stink of your dog’s shit?
Mydogisagentleman · 19/10/2020 21:52

His turds are double bagged.
That particular one wasn’t

copperoliver · 19/10/2020 22:11

I suppose it's better than them not picking it up x

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/10/2020 22:18

I can't get aeriated about it, nor can the council and it is their bin after all, not mine.

I suggest not leaving your allocated council bin where anyone else can get to it, particularly, not on the pavement where it's probably blocking someones way.

Hook the handles of the dog poo bag on the windscreen wipers at the back of your car. Why would you leave dog poo in your car for a couple of days?! Shock of course it's going to stink!

So where do you put your bin on bin day then?

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 19/10/2020 22:22

YANBU OP, I wouldn't use someone else's bin for dog poo, there's plenty of public bins around where I walk, or I take it home if I can't find one.

StoneofDestiny · 19/10/2020 22:26

UGH - don't own a dog and don't want any bodies dog shit! If you know who is doing it - tell them.

(Seriously - can't believe someone does this. How would they like it if you chucked used nappies, used condone, sick bags - or any other container full of bodily waste into their bin?)

JayAlfredPrufrock · 19/10/2020 22:27

Hell I don’t even use my own bin. Unless it’s due to be emptied.

Storyoftonight · 19/10/2020 22:31

Have they used the handle or is it just caught there?

I don't know what is in the air about bins but I honestly think there are bigger things in life.

BlooperReel · 20/10/2020 10:01

YANBU. What i've found is worse are the wanker dog owners who allow thier dog to shit on my front garden and dont even have the decency to pick it up.

StoneofDestiny · 20/10/2020 13:24

Condoms (obs)

WiddlinDiddlin · 21/10/2020 14:06

My bin is taken out and put back for me because I am disabled and requested that service.

I know others on narrow streets arrange with neighbours who are home during the day to put bins back for them asap once the bin lorry has been, and the bin men put the bins tidy against walls rather than in the middle of the pavement.

I wouldn't shove a poobag in someone elses empty bin, but I have done it BEFORE the bin lorry has been, into the top of a full bin (not so that the lid is then open and the bin men won't take it of course and always double bagged).

However, when councils have been asked about this, as they'd rather people use bins and not just leave poo around (and dog poo can go in normal waste bins doesn't have to be specific dog poo bins any more) their general opinion was, bins belong to the council NOT the homeowner, so they really don't care.
