Moving to Horsham, West Sussex

Hi, My wife and me are thinking of moving to Comptons Lane, Horsham, West Sussex. My daughter and her husband are moving there soon. We have a grandson who is 3 years and we look after him 4 days a week. Are the 4 bed detached properties expensive in Comptons Lane? We don't know the area very well and would very much appreciate some advise. We have heard endless good things about Horsham.

Comptons Lane is at the pricier end, you’d be looking at £600k for 4 bed detached. It’s right near the secondary schools.

What’s your budget? The further out from town you go the cheaper it gets. The villages are lovely, Southwater in particular.

YippeeKayakOtherBuskets, I heard Comptons Lane is very pricey. Our daughter is moving to Little Comptons (Off Comptons Lane) and we are thinking of moving half a mile from her towards the Town. Is £630k budget enough to find a place there? We have considered places like Littlehaven, Roffey, Broadheath but never thought of Southwater.

Personally would swerve Roffey & Littlehaven myself, not the nicest place....

£630k will get you a fine property, depending if you want new or old depends on where to look but Slinfold, Billingshurst, Coolham, Rusper, Loxwood, Wisborough Green and various villages surrounding are nice too.

Horsham is a lovely town but definitely a bit pricey in places. Broadbridge Heath is just outside Horsham and has had lots of new builds in the last year. It might be worth checking prices there to compare? Southwater has the country park which is is lovely to walk around.

Comptons Lane is one Street in a good sized town. A few roads east or west will literally get you more property for your money. Try Rightmove and see what you get. Good luck.

A 2min check of Rightmove shows properties in a mile radius between £395k and £650k.
