My husband wants to bin these

I've tried to sell them but no one is interested. Cost us almost £50 from Amazon

My son is now on prescribed milk neocate so we don't need these anymore. All well in date and sealed apart from one opened box (the actual bags still unopened)

So I've tried to give away for free. On Facebook pages and marketplace. No one is interested!

My husband says as we cannot give away even for free he's binning them

IBU - husband should bin them
INBU - keep trying to find someone to give for free

Cannot even give this away for FREE!

Donate to a food bank.

Mysa74 · 18/10/2020 15:08

Could you give them to a food bank?

SnuggyBuggy · 18/10/2020 15:09

Would a food bank take them?

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 15:09

Have you tried a local food bank?

adagio · 18/10/2020 15:09

Food bank? Women’s refuge or refugees support maybe?
I’m like you - hate binning good usable stuff!

Pelleas · 18/10/2020 15:09

x-post with everyone.

Diverseduvet · 18/10/2020 15:11

Leave then outside a supermarket or childrens centre with a note?

Marmite27 · 18/10/2020 15:11

Baby bank? Just for a variation on food bank!

Frequentcarpetflyer · 18/10/2020 15:12

Yes food bank. Supermarkets often have a trolley near the exit for food bank items if you can't get to the actual food bank.

diningroomfloorlady · 18/10/2020 15:12

Don't leave outside a children centre! They would never be taken, anything could be in there! Imagine a midwife or HV giving away baby milk found outside with nothing more than a note!

MJMG2015 · 18/10/2020 15:13

Your DH ibu

As everyone's said food bank or children's centre

islockdownoveryet · 18/10/2020 15:15

My first thought was food bank too .
Do not bin them put them in your car for next time you go to the supermarket they have a box for food bank in most supermarkets .

AldiAisleofCrap · 18/10/2020 15:17

Majority of food banks , certainly the Trussel trust can’t accept formula as it goes against promoting breastfeeding. Not sure how they are expecting women to relactate when their baby is several months old and needs milk.

DeliciouslyFemale · 18/10/2020 15:19

Can you contact any mother and baby units or women’s shelters? They might be glad of them.

NannyR · 18/10/2020 15:19

Our church food bank would definitely accept it.

GameSetMatch · 18/10/2020 15:24

Food bank or local zoo?

AldiIsla · 18/10/2020 15:26

"Not sure how they are expecting women to relactate when their baby is several months old and needs milk."

Can't speak for Trussel but our local food bank aren't, they contact Health Visitors who give milk. Accepting formula is a pain as there's so many different brands and each brand can have a few different types. Health visitors find out the brand, arrange formula and can volunteer extra support to the parents.

WorriedFTM1 · 18/10/2020 15:27

Try posting on the IUGR Support Group UK (on Facebook) as it might be more likely that parents with low birth weight babies are using that formulation and would gratefully take you up on the offer.

ItsBeyondMe · 18/10/2020 15:27

Food bank or baby charity.

Lilac95 · 18/10/2020 15:29

Not being unreasonable but there’s a reason people can’t return milk to supermarkets. You’ve no way of knowing if they’ve been tampered with (not saying they have been) and even some food banks etc won’t take them. I would try a food bank and if not dispose of them. I worked on customer service and the things people do to baby milk is unimaginable

IMNOTSHOUTING · 18/10/2020 15:33

I don't know about milk in particular but I'm trying to massively reduce my waste so don't throw away anything anyone might want. My local village facebook group no one ever likes to accept anything for free (maybe because it's a fairly affluent village and they don't want to look poor). I went on the local facebook group of the nearest big town and offered stuff for free and also said I could drop it off and people were biting my hand off for it. I find the people who most appreciate free stuff often don't have transport to collect it.
