Asking you to tell me about ovarian cyst experiences

Anyone who's had symptoms due to having one please can you tell me what you had?

Left ovary often feels niggly.
A week ago I felt pain in that area when I stretched and had a bleed for the next few hours. Followed by 2 days of brown spotting.

Still feel irritated and delicate in that area. It sometimes feels it's in my hip aswel. Sometimes it feels nearer the middle of my pelvis and it sometimes feels like I need to watch how I move.

I have left sides breast pain with it on and off. I'm sure it's not connected but left eyelid has been twitching since Friday.

Just feel heavy and bruised.

Got a smear on Tuesday. But I keep worrying about it suddenly becoming agony or something as I have young kids. Partner's here though. But just feeling anxious. Drs won't entertain me until I've had a smear as they are fed up of me ringing them with heavy periods and iron issues. They have exhausted all options in my view and they won't refer me until I have a smear.

Anyone who can share any experiences. It would be helpful. Occasionally I am slipping into worrying about cancer. But I had a negative hpv test last year. Thanks.

For me they often feel like someone is twisting a knife into my side. I have pcos so I get a lot, mostly small and don't cause long term effects but don't normally cause bleeding.

Have you sought medical attention, have you had unprotected sex recently. What you are describing could also be a ruptured ectopic pregnancy

Hi. No sex for months. Same partner for ten years. We use condoms. I've had nothing but trouble with my cycle since I tried the mini pill.

I am at a loss to what is could be. I just know something isn't right but getting past the drs is helpless. The pains not severe or anything. Just enough to remind me to take it easy. It flares up in the evenings top. I had a scan done 8 months ago and they saw just one small fibroid that they say won't be an issue. Ovaries were all clear back then. I've been getting left side twinges for four years now.

Also currently have a small ache in my back. Its starting to worry me. I presume it's nothing to do with my bowel because it's affecting my reproductive areas.

Had a 13 dermoid cyst, which in hindsight had Been grumbling for several years. No real impact on periods. In the end when I went to the GP clutching a hot water bottle he sent me to A&E, as he could feel it, and I was obviously in pain. Two weeks later after a couple of stays in hospital I had it removed, along with the ovary it had twisted and killed. Fortunately all benign.

Should add, the pain went from general discomfort, which could be managed with ibuprofen and a hot water bottle, to the most miserable weekend I have had when nothing could touch it - which I assume was when to ovary was twisting.

Did you have spotting and niggles in your ovaries etc?

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Had a 16cm cyst a few years ago. Had no idea it was there until it came up on a scan that I had for something else. Fortunately it was nothing but it had to be removed via surgery due to its size and position. Surgery and recovery were absolutely fine. Bit of pain and discomfort and had to have about 6 weeks off work.

No long term impacts except periods went a bit haywire for about six months post op, all settled now though.

Hope everything works out well for you OP

Non of the symptoms you mention but 18 months before diagnosis I started to feel a little sluggish. My tiredness got slowly worse until I finally went to Docs about it. She commented that I appeared quite pale and sent me for blood tests. This was in France and she got for results back same day. She called me that night saying I needed to go to hospital urgently as I was dangerously anaemic. Turned out I had a huge ovarian cyst. It was explained that they would perform exploratory op and if it looked cancerous they'd do a biopsy but if it looked benign and because of my age (49) they'd perform a full hysterectomy. I woke up with everything gone.

I had a large ovarian cyst removed from my left ovary in 2017. It was 9cm. It was found as I had had a miscarriage and was told to stop ttc until the cyst had been removed. I was told by doctors I had to be careful in what I did as if it had burst or twisted it would have been agonising. I looked pregnant, I was uncomfortable, I had no energy, I kept having twinges, I'm sure there was other symptoms too but as soon as surgery finished I felt so much lighter and all symptoms vanished.

Amijustagrump · 18/10/2020 09:43

@MotherPiglet sorry if its personal but were you still able to have children? I'm in a similar situation and terrified about my fertility!

Chocdrop14 · 18/10/2020 09:44

I am often anemic and have bad periods. I'm always drained too. Nothing was showing in February. I tried to mini pill in march. Stopped it after six weeks as I just bled. Since then I've had loads of symptoms up and down. Like my hormones are out of whack. I just don't feel right. But the drs are more focused on anxiety so i know I've got to fight for myself this week. I feel I need a scan but they are pushing back because I am due a smear.
