To be f**ked off about Out n About Nipper tyres 😡😡😡

This doesn’t seem to feature as a big issue in reviews, am I doing something wrong here? My O&A Nipper tyres literally go flat every week. I am going to explode with rage if I get DS wrestled into outdoor clothing, wrestled into it, tog myself up, get the dogs, go to set off and have to turn straight back again one more time. I do go ‘Proper’ off road, but that is what they are for?!

I have used slime, that exploded and leaked out with last puncture. Got a full set of new tyres and inner tubes, lasted a few weeks at best now they are all going again.

Have just been looking at the EVA wheels to be done with it but reviews say they are smaller and nowhere near as good off road. I’m losing the will to live.

Ah no we had this issue with the Mountain Buggy Duet but it was all over the reviews so we were prepared and we were able to fix with slime...... Maybe get a different brand of slime as it shouldn't make the type explode or leak!!

iamaLeafontheWind · 17/10/2020 15:42

We had the same, gave up in the end and got a different pram. I suspected it was the spokes, could you wrap some tape around the rims?

Friolero · 17/10/2020 15:45

Can you swap them for solid tyres? I had to do that with a mountain buggy after they kept going flat.

SinkGirl · 17/10/2020 15:50

I won an Out & About Nipper in a competition - I was thrilled as our double buggy is crap off road. Two out of three tyres were flat after one walk. It’s now gathering dust on our landing - keep meaning to get the tyres sorted but I guess slime doesn’t do the trick?! We must have used it 4 times.

adagio · 17/10/2020 15:51

Have you got a local bike shop? If so, ask them to help you with thicker rim tape (goes on the inside of the wheel on top of the tops if the spokes to protect the inner tube). Worth a try!
I don’t know this buggy, but last time I was getting my bike fixed I was idly reading the signs (as you do) and noticed they had one that says they can help with all pneumatic tyres including buggies, wheelchairs, etc

Dishwashersaurous · 17/10/2020 15:51

I used a nipper every single day for five years including off road and only had one flat ( nail) in that time.

Have you got something stuck in the tyre? Or a nail in the doorstep?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/10/2020 15:55

Sounds like you've got something stuck in the tyre that's repeatedly puncturing the inner tube.

Sink if you don't want it, sell it. They go for a few hundred pounds at least, big demand for them especially on the specialist group on FB.

Maffy · 17/10/2020 15:55

I had the same problem when my DC were younger; I feel your pain...

Problem was easily solved by buying foam, swim-noodle-like inner tubes, which replaced the usual inflatable inner tubes. They lasted for two more children after that with no issues...

I seem to recall that they were called BlueTubes, but cannot find the website online now, and please do be careful googling that term!

We could still do with it - if it hadn’t been for lockdown I’m sure we’d have got it sorted before now, but we’ve been mainly staying at home (our twins both have disabilities, it has been easier to just stay at home and use the garden but a lighter weight buggy will definitely be handy when we are back to going out more). I will get the tyres sorted - the other twin mums i know have all taken their tyres to halfords for sliming and haven't had any issues
BarbarAnna · 17/10/2020 16:04

I had something similar to the BlueTubes mentioned above. Once installed, it was the best buggy ever.

Mollyboom · 17/10/2020 16:28

I had this problem and then took into Halfords where they put some kind of filler into the tyres and it was good for the next 3 years.

Rankellior · 17/10/2020 16:33

Another one who used it daily for years and I could count the punctures/flat tyres on one hand. We did have to replace an inner tube about 3 years in but otherwise it was fantastic.

UncleBunclesHouse · 17/10/2020 16:47

Thanks everyone some good tips here! I’ll maybe take the bastard thing to a bike shop/Halfords. Blue tubes sound great, did everyone fit themselves? Or could they put these in at bike shop?

I've had 2 punctures in 4 years so far and never had an issue (I go off road too). I'd definitely get the wheels checked and maybe contact out n about yourself? They've great customer service when I contacted them

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 17/10/2020 17:06

I used to get punctures in my off road pushchair. Farmers constantly cutting bastarding blackthorn was the culprit. Took it to the bike shop to have the tyres filled and one exploded in the back of the car on the way home. Christ knows what they did. Got it changed to solid wheels after that.
