Spandau Ballet over Duran Duran !

I appreciate that it this isn't the most pressing topic at the moment, but does anyone agree/disagree?

Oh definitely Duran Duran, I absolutely loved them from 1983-1986. I still think Simon Le Bon is handsome now, (but so is Martin Kemp! )
I think most of the music still sounds good now from both bands, I get a bit fed up of hearing Save a Prayer & True as they both had so many songs that were way better.

So many great bands to choose from in the early 80s: Spandau, Duran Duran, Human League, Adam and the Ants, Haircut 100, The Specials, Madness...

What has happened to music?? I know I'm not meant to like Radio 1 but I'm really struggling to think of many classic tunes from the past 10 years!

Spandau- you could only be one or the other, at my school anyway. However, I also secretly liked Duran and was going to see them this summer if it hadn't been cancelled by Covid

Adam & the Ants were the best, I cried when they broke up

Definitely Duran Duran. I still sing along to them now. Had a mad crush on Nick Rhodes when I was 14

No, Spandau only made two decent songs whereas Duran Duran had loads.

Spandau everytime. Tony Hadleys voice far superior to Simon Le Bon.

Well Simon Le Bon's voice is shocking and Hadley can totally sing so in retrospect it should really be Spandau but it comes down to who is sexier and cooler. Spandau had Sax appeal but Duran Duran had Sex appeal all the way - and edgier songs.
So on balance I say Duran Duran are through to the next round.

Wasn't a particular fan of SB but I fancied Martin Kemp and detested DD so I pick Spandau.

A very serious question which deserves a considered reply.

I think Duran Duran made better videos - Rio, Save a Prayer, Wild Boys, The Chauffeur... to name a few BUT, on reflection, Tony Hadley of SB, had the better voice.

However, I'm Sheffield born and bred so for me, it was ABC... and The Human League

I was a Duranie but I so fancied John Taylor. Looking back now I think the music of Spandau was better.

Duran Duran for me. I intended on being Mrs Moasty Le Bon. At our wedding my 4 best friends were going to be bridesmaids and the rest of the band would be groomsmen....

I did feel sorry for them though, as I where I was working it was in Muswell Hill quite close to where Martin Kemp lived, and there were always small groups of girls hanging outside for photos and autographs.
