Paint splattered all over my car

Is it something that I need to worry about or will it come off in the car wash on Monday?

I was driving home earlier today and I heard a thudder and assumed it was bird poo. Didn't think anything of it until now as I just went out quicky to take the recycling and noticed there's paint spots all over the bonnet/windshield/right wing mirror. I've rubbed some of it off but there are other drops to and it's hard to see in the dark.

I'm on a course all day tomorrow then working on Sunday so can't take the car for a wash until Monday. Will it come off? I remember reading about something similar happening to another person and they had to pay £100 to have the car resprayed Envy just panicking a bit.

Firstly it’s an awful lot more than £100 to have a car resprayed.

I’d suggest you go out and hose down the car, have a quick wash with a sponge and washing up liquid, rinse off. At least you’ll have gotten excess off

Waiting to Monday expecting a regular car wash will get paint off is very unrealistic.

BoomBoomsCousin · 17/10/2020 00:36

It will really depend on what sort of paint it is but I would do as Adore suggests tonight and tomorrow get up early enough to have a good look at it (and maybe a scrub) in the daylight before heading off to your course.

Another vote for not leaving it.

Cantbreathe2020 · 17/10/2020 01:00

You need to get back outside ASAP and get it off before it sets!!!!!!

Cantbreathe2020 · 17/10/2020 01:00

*cures!!!!!

Aquamarine1029 · 17/10/2020 01:04

Agree with @Cantbreathe2020

You need to get out there. This happened to me with paint from some idiotic painters spraying my neighbours house. They had to pay £600 to get the overspray removed from my car.

Boatingforthestars · 17/10/2020 01:11

Get off what you can whilst its wet, once dried it will likely pick off with a finger nail, dont use anything metal or scouring pads etc you will wreck the paint.
Failing that it will need a machine polish, so a local body shop or some companies advertise on facebook and will come to you and do it, I expect around £100 would get it polished.
It wouldnt need a respray thankfully as you would be looking at £2k upwards for that.

DelphineWalsh · 17/10/2020 01:21

Who would buy a pot of paint that doesn't dry for a few days?

toiletpaper · 17/10/2020 01:34

Christ was it a rattle can job for £100 for a respray? You need to get out there now OP and get it off. VW had left overspray on a car I bought from them and I had quotes for £400+ for a detail to get it off. A claybar should work but you could also try tar remover if it's easier for you or if you have any lying around.

toiletpaper · 17/10/2020 01:35

Oh and don't pick it off, you could end up taking original paint or lacquer off in the process although I know it's hard to resist.

Ulpo · 17/10/2020 01:43

Are you sure it's not shit? How did paint get on it?

Rotundandhappy · 17/10/2020 07:59

@yogibear9 did you mean £1,000 for a respray? £100 is way off.

Paint won’t come off in a car wash. It won’t come off if you get out there and wash it now. You should have acted when it happened... Confused what did you think would happen??

Youandmeareluckytobeus · 17/10/2020 08:02

T-cut?

Cantbreathe2020 · 17/10/2020 11:58

@yogibear9 How's your car OP? Gin

Halliehallie9828 · 17/10/2020 12:31

£100 ? No chance for a real ray 😂

Halliehallie9828 · 17/10/2020 12:31

Respray

rslsys · 17/10/2020 13:12

Get a proper mobile valeter. The problems they can rectify are awesome.

Dawnlassie · 17/10/2020 13:14

If only it were possible to wash a car yourself. oh well.
